Not in the way they seemed to be describing it as. Do transactions take place? Of course. But they were talking about paying "full price" for someone. As in taking ownership. Which is what marriage used to be until pretty recently. I get that lots of people want to go back to that tradition of a man finding a woman and him paying for everything while she serves him, but I don't.

Most things in life can be broken down as transactions. Relationships fall under that. Where I disagree is with the people who view them ONLY as transactions. Like arranged marriages or royalty marrying 100s of years ago for wealth.

I don't think I'm taking the analogy too literally as I don't think the poster I was responding to thinks it's as rigid a transaction as an arranged marriage. But they DO place value on virginity and sexual partners, which I think is stupid. That's where their transaction is, they are buying used pussy by marrying her. What I don't understand is WHY he wouldn't want to know the amount of sexual partners she had if they place this high a value on that. Which is why I asked if they would buy a car with the odometer hidden. If I was buying a car, I wouldn't want the thing I value (mileage) hidden from me.

The guys that are really into spinning plates, and always having a pipeline of new women to replace the ones that get tired and leave, have it down to a science. They know exactly what buttons to push to convince a woman they care about her, and how to do it in the most efficient way possible. The truth is, most of these women have very shallow relationships with people in their life, be it family, friends, etc. It doesn't take much to meet their definition of a "deep" connection. And then you're in :-)

I've actually tripped this accidentally several times. I'd meet someone a couple of times (no sex, just a few casual meetups or hanging out), realize it's not for me and break things off. And they'd come back literally in tears wondering why because we had such a "deep connection" and were really vibing and no guy ever connected with them like that, etc. etc. and I'm thinking "lady, all we did was have a few conversations where I talked about my favorite books..." It opened my eyes to the fact that there are lots of women (and probably guys as well) who have no idea what a real friendship or deep personal bond actually is. For many of these women, spending an hour on a date letting them vent about the drama in their lives while you're mentally thinking about the changes you need to make to your fantasy football team would qualify as a "deep, meaningful connection" at least enough to spin up a FWB situation. Because they don't have anyone who would even do that for them.

Also, they have different standards for "deep connection" based on how attracted they are to you. If you're Chris Hemsworth hot, just smiling at them while walking down the line of fans makes them think they had a personal connection with you. While if you're ugly, spending years getting to know every part of their life (they'll never be interested enough to know about yours) won't be enough to convince them that you're worth starting a sexual relationship.

Women are delusional, but The Playboy Philosophy probably was this way for men back in the 60's as well: A belief that instead of a man having to settle down largely with the first woman he lays (his wife), he instead could "play the field", even indefinitely, and have a good time and then later decide to get married and have kids after "sowing his wild oats."

The Playboy Philosophy, essentially a recanning of "free love", was this ideal that everyone would have a good time with someone about on their level and be cool about it. Men who maybe wanted to punch up could learn some "game" or romantic lines.

It didn't turn out that way.

The Playboy Philosophy has worked out splendidly for Chad who back in the old days, was expected to marry since chaste women were raised not to be used by him and then think they could land a good man who had his choice of virgins. She'd "get a reputation" as Chad's Playtoy. Even Chad wouldn't want her. This is still largely true, but for Chad this wasn't a huge problem.

The Playboy Philosophy certainly worked for the man who coined the term: With a magazine empire that profited from close contact with such women, he could enjoy this even into his 80's selling this delusion to millions of baby boomer readers. It was even a pro-feminist magazine.

My time as a wingman for a Chad

Chad is a lawyer and was working on USA/Russia oil business contracts in NYC. Every 2 weeks, he would fly up to NYC for a week and work with his Russian counterpart. I get it, I was there for a while. But really, if you navigate it right, you'll lose some assets but you can get those back. What you can't ever get back is the time and the sanity that you will lose trying to appease a harridan.

Edit: let me put it in context.

I am going to lose roughly 37%-40% of my retirement accounts, half the value of my home, and will have to pay child support for the next 10 years.

You see - I am no longer trying to retire for two people, one of which is a spending machine that has no concept of moderation. To be clear, everything I wrote is in reference to why that man and men in such situations don't leave, not why they should stay.

If everyone knew how to navigate such waters on top of their stressful existence, they would have cut and walked already. The fact that you were able to see the big picture and let go, doesn't mean every man out there is able to.

I brought up the guy's education and skills because if he's working for minimum wage, chances of figuring out how to escape his misery will be extremely slim. If you're struggling and worrying about making your bills at the end of each month, you'll have a hell of a time thinking outside of that constrained box.

You figured it out, and that is admirable. Same applies to every man who is able to get out without being permanently destroyed.

If you wander into the DB sub, you'll see that there are tons of men who don't leave, nor believe they can. There are still tons of men who don't know how to cut their losses and let go.

I googled Common law marriage in Texas, below are the requirements.

This allows for a he said she said thing. And what side do courts choose over and over again? Woman. Filing joint income tax, you are married.

My neighbor was kicked out. There were cop cars outside at 1am, one morning. Lots of drama.

Wife was "injured" without a visible scratch on her. Toddler was crying and freaked out. Wife left in an ambulance in a bathrobe and boots, in sub-zero temperatures.

The next evening after work, a cop car was parked outside for about half an hour. I knew why the officer was there. The husband showed up, and was escorted in to pack his shit. This young officer was nice and helped carry a suitcase.

Three weeks later, another cop car outside. Two older officers escorted him in to grab some more items. They had a look of disgust on their faces. They strolled behind him as he struggled with two bags, some sports equipment, and a box, all at the same time.

He was never allowed back in the house. He canceled the lease and HIS parents showed up to pack up the place, while the wife did nothing to help. The grandparents had to, as the grandkids were two and seven months old. That was incredibly awkward.

The husband was the calmest and nicest guy ever. Mid-level manager at a large company. There's no way he started any drama, but I guess he was deemed too dangerous to be allowed near his wife.

When he showed up for the move out inspection, he had a new girlfriend with him. Exact same build as his (ex?)wife, but much prettier.

I saw a video a man took in England. His wife got home and got violent, forcing him to call the bobbies. HE had to vacate the premises, even though it was fully evident she assaulted him.

I claim no expertise, but it seems things can go off the rails quickly in some instances, from what I've seen.

I found the Red Pill through blog posts, and floundered around for a couple of years trying to make stuff written for single men apply to my situation.

If I'd known about it at the time, I'd have done what I'm saying next (both for you and any readers/lurkers who might be in that situation): go to /r/MarriedRedPill and read the sidebar. Read ours and the one at /r/WhereAllTheGoodMenAre. Read the sidebar at /r/TheRedPill. I'd even tell you to read the sidebar at /r/MGTOW, but that subreddit has been banned. The most important item from that one was "The Manipulated Man" by Esther Vilhar(sp?), and you should be able to find a free copy through Google. Read any archives you can find from Roissy/Heartiste and Dalrock. Read "The Rational Male" by Rollo Tomassi. Read Tomassi's blog. Listen to his YouTube stuff while you commute. Listen to Rian Stone's YouTube stuff while you commute.

If all this seems daunting, at least start here: Heartiste's/Roissy's 16 Commandments of Poon and his Be A Skittles Man.

I'm going to assume you're not asking a rhetorical question and answer seriously.

Because having a new Ho every night gets old pretty quickly. Even the hungry fat guy at a buffet eventually fills up. And after that, if he eats again, he'll only go for something really tasty that's worth eating, and not just stuffing everything in sight simply because he can. Same with women.

Most guys eventually burn out of the PUA game. It gets really old and actually kills something inside you when you realize how easy it is to attract most women. That they're all pretty much alike, they're easy to read, and what they are are nothing special (contrary to what your inner nice guy always hoped).

Even guys who aren't interested in marriage, eventually settle into a pattern of serial monogamy, or at least go from having one night stands every night to maybe a small rotation of women that generally stay for months to years at a time. In many ways, that's actually more satisfying than having a new girl every night that you barely know her name (at least, once you get that part out of your system :-)

Yeah, no shit. Getting a relationship is what is hard for you, getting someone to settle down with (as you said you want) is what you'll have to work for. If you get the hard thing while doing the easy thing, ofc you would be down for that. It is just that it won't happen, unless you work for it.

I play music for fun, and also jam for fun. That is the easy part for me. If someone offered me a ton of money and live-gigs for it, then I would do that. But I know it ain't happening, unless I change my musical priorities. Same thing.

(And then you meet her 10 years later, she has gotten it, but she has also worked for it. But won't admit the work-for-it-part. Thus misleading a new generation that you won't have to work for it. Aaaand the cycle repeats).
