Saw this on the cover of a kids' magazine (one that's usually gender-neutral, Rick Ranger, Jr.) and couldn't help but shake my head. I'm all for empowerment of both boys and girls, but I don't think empowerment and encouragement should ever be at the expense of tearing down other groups or promoting a message of supremacy which I feel slogans like this do. Imagine the uproar if "boys rule" became a thing and how it'd be decried as sexist (and for the record, I don't approve of boys rule anymore than when it's with girls; I think both promote supremacy and not equality). I think this sends a bad message to both boys and girls, insulting the former and instilling a sense of entitlement and superiority in the latter. It's important both boys and girls are treated as equals and given empowerment, but too often these days empowerment is only ever aimed at women and girls, and slogans like this promote supremacy and don't promote actually gender equality and harmony. I really hate slogans like this and feel they send a bad, counter-productive message.
