Is he a sweet tooth? I've since taken a leaf out of Japanese women's books and go with handmade chocolates / baked goods. This Valentine's I'm making my husband one of his favourite treats—caramel slice.

My husband loves Overwatch, and me picking it up after watching him play for a few years deepened our bond—it gave us a shared hobby and something I can listen to him talk about in earnest.

I find most men prefer experiences to gifts.

This is a bit ridiculous (which was the point) but one of the most fun valentine dinners my husband and I ever had:

We got dressed to the absolute nines, and picked up fast food burgers and then ice cream from the grocery store to bring home. We put a single flower in a cheap little vase on the table and lit a few candles (turned off the lights so it was just candlelight) and enjoyed our 'romantic' meal. We danced in the kitchen for a bit after and then ahem headed to bed.

It was relaxed, silly, not expensive and just a really fun evening together.

Another sweet thing to do on Valentine's is to pick up glass markers from the craft store and leave a loving or sexy note on the bathroom mirror for him to wake up to.

For gifts: a photo album, or better yet a little scrapbook with pictures of your adventures together so far. Flowers (guys usually don't get flowers so he may not care or he may be really touched. Bit 50/50 on that one). Chocolates or savoury snacks that he likes. A themed gift basket (ex. movie night basket, sexy goodies basket). A love letter.

I made a heart shaped pizza from scratch one year. I’m pretty sure that was my husband’s favorite V Day gift.

I’m doing a “5 senses” gift for my long distance boyfriend:

Sight - sexy, but tasteful pictures of me in lingerie

Touch - sewing him a pillow with a cute embroidery of a guy with a cup to his mouth connected with a heart string to a girl with a cup to her ear (idk if that makes sense haha but it’s a really cute picture of our long distance relationship)

Sound - a 20-30 minute ASMR recording of me (he listens to ASMR to fall asleep sometimes)

Smell - Lush bath bomb because he loves taking baths after his hard day of work/workout and he’s never tried a bath bomb before!

Taste - a small bag of two homemade chocolate chip cookies died pink with dark chocolate chips imported from Belgium because that’s what he likes (this will have to be 2-day shipping so that the cookies are still edible)

But of course, you can personalize it to your man! These aren’t ridiculously expensive and it totally shows this gift comes from the heart, creating little things like this for him.

Some ideas: A book about love or a classic love story, writing him a poem about him (you can find guides on how to write a great love letter or poem online, to keep it unique), or a vintage copy of one of his favorite books.

A painting or a poster/print of his favorite paintings, a nice canvas, or a trip to a neat museum.

A thoughtful book of photos, a handmade calendar where you are the picture each month, hand painted valentines, etc.

You making him any kind of his favorite foods or desserts, and taking them to his work as a surprise.

I mean it depends on how much of a ladies man he is but generally speaking he probably doesn't have super high expectations for gifts. Budget is not an issue since he would probably prefer an experience or something personal. I can't imagine any of my guy friends bragging about getting an expensive gift from their girlfriend 😅. You could offer to do something for/with him that you know he really wants but you aren't necessarily that inclined yourself.

I’m going to be honest, my bf and I have been together for only a few months, so it didn’t feel right to go all out on his gifts quite yet. I am crocheting him a blanket but there’s no way it’s going to be ready in time.

We’re going out to a fancier dinner than we normally would, however beyond that, we’re not really doing something big. I did make sure to get him two sexy items he’d mentioned before, and got myself something enticing to wear that evening. He can unwrap me like a present ;)
