In California, more than 10 years marriage and you're set for life. Less than 10 years and you may still be set for very long alimony payments. However the rule is half the duration of the marriage.

Mine was 5 years, and i was ordered 2.5 years. 10monthe to go.

The sooner you file, should that happen, the better as you establish separation date. And unless humanity requires, don't pay a dime unless ordered by the court.

Michigan is generally 1/3 of the length of the marriage, unless over 20 years. There is not an official calculator (as the court uses marginsoft as a baseline) then the judge can adjust up or down from there. Michigan is a no fault state, but fault CAN (not always) be applied to Spousal Support in cases of infidelity or abuse. Usually it depends on the judge and county if this is going to happen.

Divorce her now if there is any chance of a future divorce. I don’t know why most of us men don’t bite the bullet and pull the trigger at the first sign. We simply delay the inevitable with our “hope strategy”.

This book Real World Divorce is really interesting. It has real attorneys from every state detail what would happen in a few different scenarios e.g. wealthy guy divorces sugar baby after quickie-marriage, two equal-earning parents with 3 kids divorce after 15 years of marriage, etc.

Texas child support is very high compared to other states. Alimony is only awarded in rare circumstances.
