Hey there,

tomorrow I am meeting with my cheating soon-to-be ex-wife. Since we still get along pretty well and I haven't twisted the knife too much on how horrible she is as a human being (for ruining both of our lives), we are able to meet and try to make our separation as inexpensive as possible. Possibly with a service like this (https://www.onlinedivorce.com/online-divorce-california/?h1=Start%20Your%20Online%20Divorce%20in%20California%20Without%20Lawyer%20Fees&gclid=CjwKCAjw46CVBhB1EiwAgy6M4ukqZqJRty55WZFMMe5BwGTi5ox4wHzTKXA9sBi0WbAGNr0WZE1IGhoC32EQAvD_BwE) with a "no-fault divorce" even though it IS 100% her fault and I am only opting for the no-fault version because I literally cannot afford a lawyer. (I have like $7k to my name, which I desperately need to get myself back on my feet with my own residence, etc.)

Do any of you have experience with this?

What speed bumps or tricks or loopholes should I be aware of? My Ex has mentioned that she wants alimony, but we don't have kids and neither of us has a job now that I just got out of the military (which I joined for her sake as she was very concerned we would never own a house since we lived in the SF Bay with only ~$50k/yr). So why would I be forced to slave away for her if neither of us has a job, she never had kids, and she's been spending my money with 0 returns to me (We haven't really been a team in over a year now).

Can't I refuse to pay alimony? Makes no sense I should be enslaved unless I had kids with her.
