Hello,

I wanted to share my experience after divorce with everyone here. I was on the subreddit 2.5-3 years ago when this process started, looking for advice, support, etc.

I was devastated, depressed, and mentality/emotionally lost at first. Found out the wife cheated, drained savings, opened credit cards in my name and maxed them out, I went from having +$100k saved to buy a house to -$30k in debt. I was near suicidal, lost 40 pounds, didn't sleep, I clenched my jaw so hard I cracked a tooth, it was rough.

I want you to know, that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Things will get better, you will recover (emotionally, physically, and financially). If you have kids, focus on them and their well being, it helped me take my mind off of a lot of stressors. Go see a therapist, it helps to get some outside perspective. Try a new hobby. I started sailing, which is surprisingly cheap compared to most other hobbies. Don't go right back to dating, take your time, enjoy being single for a bit, let those wounds heal.

I am now 1.5 years officially divorced, the divorce itself took about 1.5 years due to covid shutting court rooms down and creating a back log.

I am happier now than while married, still single, exploring new hobbies, and spending better quality time with my kids. I ended up getting my kids 5 nights a week. Life is great, not always easy, but still great.

I wish you all the best and keep your heads up.
