For those who didn't get the message (and why I had to nuke about half the comments): as per rule 8 in our moderation policy, we do not allow the word incel to be used as an insult, and by extension we do not accept it to be used as denoting a toxic person by default. We've always treated it as literally involuntary celibate. The fact that they are romantically or sexually unsuccessful does not say anything about their moral character.

If you went through my comments you'd find about 50 comments from me asking this exact courtesy. People making fun of dick sizes, body sizes, height. Nothing that has anything to do with what makes these people so despicable. And all things that other people suffer with that don't deserve to be mocked for it.

It's really not that much to ask. But people react as if I'm trying to defend these people, and no matter how many times I say it has nothing to do with them, they can't wrap their mind around giving a shit about men's mental health.

Humans drop their moral standards when they despise somebody. This is reflected in this event and many others. It makes us see beyond sexism and human property dynamics for war. It makes us see beyond pointlessness, hypocrisy and the sheer cruelty of capital punishment.

There is a reason most countries forbid death penalties and torture, because if it was allowed, people would make it happen at far higher rates than it already does, perpetuating cycles of violence and abuse.

What we observe here is simply the verbal version of dropping moral standards. Suddenly it's ok to go after gender, looks, weight etc. It's why posts like yours are important. We often need reminders to snap back to reality and remember what world we want and if we are acting accordingly.

I've also seen ostensibly leftist Facebook pages post comparisons of Alex Jones and Paul Rudd (who is five years older than Jones) with statements like "Look how hate ages you!" I find it disturbing how glibly they promote the Beauty Equals Goodness trope (at least in relation to men, since I don't think they'd so uncritically promote it in relation to women).

It also just shows how divorced American so-called lefty spaces have become from the core principle of class, since hard work and poor sleep over the years will obviously age someone, and the working class is much more subject to those pressures than those at the top.

This is just how people shit on men in general, for some reason they'd rather attack the looks of someone than actual garbage shit they've done and said. There is so much they can attack them for yet it always just goes back to physical appearance, body shamming men is just second nature to people and it makes sense since humans are visual creatures.

Regardless the worst offense I've seen of this was with Andrew Tate, people taking random videos of bald men who were gay confidently expressing themselves (whether it was in a feminine way or being excited about something) and making fun of andrew tate by saying this was him.

Not only was it blatantly homophobic because they were using it as an insult, it wasn't even the fucking guy and they made fun of him and them for being bald. Like seriously there's is so much other shit to work with.

Hot take: I don't think this example is particularly bad or harmful. Alex Jones is a pretty big guy and he can look reddish at times.

I wouldn't have a problem with something similar being said about a woman, either. I think it would probably be best for society if we were all a little less obsessive about language.

From what you've quoted, I'm not sure that really counts as body-shaming. To me, it's just good descriptive journalism. Just those three words 'large, red man' conjured up a near instant image of Jones in my head, squeezing and sweating into the camera. Shaming's got nothing to do with it.

Large: This sounds more like an attack on his weight, rather than his race/gender. And someone's weight actually DOES have a significant amount to do with their personality. Are there exceptions where someone genuinely can't gain/lose weight? Sure. Those are INCREDIBLY rare, and it's much more common for someone who is overweight to just be claiming they have such a condition, rather than admit they're gluttonous and overindulgent.

Red: So, red skin can mean one of two things, the first is native American, which is a race distinct from white. The second meaning is calling him angry. Given the first is paradoxical, I assume you believe it to be the second. Anger problems exist within ALL races/genders. This isn't really gendered.

Man: The third word in the quote is man. Yes, Alex Jones is a man. I fail to see how this is an attack.

This is silly. At worst, the tagline is unnecessary, but if describing somebody as a "large, red man" is body shaming, I don't think it's much of a problem.

Obligatory: just imagine the hysteria if the characteristics were reversed.
