I'm going to go ahead and stop her right there. Yes, it has benefited men. But only like the top 20% or so. I hate how she fails to acknowledge this at any point in her article.

For the vast majority of men, the sexual revolution has been a rude awakening to female nature in regards to sexuality. Monogamy is not the natural state of human relationships, hypergamy is. There were times in our ancient history where only 1 in 17 men got to reproduce, and this wasn't because there was a mass die-off of men. It was simply because they were not selected as mates by the women in thier society.

There is a book called "The Moral Animal" (great read, btw) which theorized that monogamy was really just a sexual redistribution strategy. It was deliberately implemented to placate this underclass of single men. Because hypergamous societies tended to also be hyper-violent, and less productive.

Here’s another elephant in the room.

Due to the way human male and female dating strategies operate, there is an effect that women perceive as “unfair”. It is this:

Men who have sex with lots of women are perceived (unconsciously) as more attractive for sex BY WOMEN. Why? Because he must have good genetics, and “I want me a piece of that for my baby” says the Dawkinsian drive in the back of the female mind.

Women who have sex with lots of men are perceived by other men as unattractive for relationships because their Dawkinsian drive is telling them that the woman is a Paternity Fraud risk.

I'm a dude and I'm often times not comfortable with casual sex. I like affection, cuddling, kissing, etc. And if you are into that with a woman who just sees you as a jump-off, it's seen as "beta." But I really can't enjoy affectionless sex. It's hard for me to get it up for a stranger.

I feel her especially when she wrote" would take a look around and decide:I’d rather be a man. Or more accurately, I’d rather not be a woman. There were time(even now),I was thinking of participating in hook-up culture.But I knew I would probably feel dull and empty.

It depends on the woman, just like it depends on the man. A guy in our friend group in our 20s did not enjoy casual sex at all; I'm a woman who enjoyed hook-up culture.

I'd say a woman who's expecting hook-ups to call her back and getting bummed out they didn't is lying to herself. And a some women seem to have a hard time enjoying casual sex or speaking up as to what they want. I never had that problem tbh; I've had some amazing sex during hook-ups. And sometimes hook-ups turned into actual dating, other times there wasn't that kind of chemistry.

And now I'm in my 30s and in a relationship. You definitely calm down with age so I don't miss my single phase, but I do look back on it fondly. I had gotten out of a serious relationship so I didn't want anything serious at that time. Doing anything out of peer pressure rather than because YOU want is never a good idea, and that applies to hook-up culture as much as anything else.

I didn't read the whole article but I think I got the gist of it.

If a young women ask me what I thought about sleeping around, I would say...

"Don't go thinking that you can treat other people as casual sex partners without doing the same to yourself."

It's a shame that they don't realize their mistake till years after.
