I want to start by saying that I am not what is traditionally considered conservative and that I consider myself rather left-wing and progressive (atleast relative to US standards since I am from the EU), I am pro-abortion and generally believe that to much socio-economic inequality is bad for the stability of society. So this post isn't an attempt to make "the left" look bad by any means. But damn does it frustrate me how hypocritical a lot of people on the left are.

Its mostly people who are left-wing who defend science based policies and actions and are rather quick to accuse someone of being anti-science. What I want to get into with this post is the the problem of anti-science within the left itself.

A lot of feminist ideology (including the academic part) and the way most left-wing people speak about gender issues in is largely unscientific. From the inaccurate belief that people's actions are determined by nurture only, to the belief that all men are privileged and can't be oppressed, to the belief in theories that are not open to falsification, to the dismissal of female privilege and to the misuse of statistics on rape because the definition is inherently biased. None of it is scientifically sound yet those people who claim science based understanding of social issues and policies are important act like its perfectly legit to ignore science when its about gender issues.

Am I the only one who has noticed this hypocrisy? Do you think this hypocrisy pushes young people away from the left? How do people generally react when you try to talk about this in your experience?
