Women don't have an exclusive preference to tall guys. I'm about 5 foot 3. I've dated taller and shorter guys and the only thing I remember about the relationship, was how they treated me. I don't think about their height. I can't imagine me thinking - Damn, the best thing about the relationship was his height. Women that think this way are the equivalent of men that say 'ah man, she was so hot, the best thing about the relationship was her butt or her boobs' yes men like that exist and they deserve to be with women that think in the exact same way.

Also, I'm quite petite so I prefer guys that are my height or slightly taller simply for the fact that I can kiss them easily and there isn't that awkward reaching up vs. reaching down. A slightly annoying inconvenience of being with a much taller guy is when you're at a loud party or a club and you have to reach up vs reach down to speak loudly in each other's ears. It's a slight inconvenience but it's not a deal breaker or maker. What's most important to me is that they treat me right and he brings good energy. I hope that helps.

The worst thing about short men is their insecurity about being short. My first bf was 5'4" and I was obsessed with him until he cheated. We reconnected a few years later and all he could talk about was how short he was and it was suchhh a turn off. I never cared, but petty self-pity is extremely unattractive when other people are struggling to survive in their bodies.

Everyone has a trait that is a deal breaker for someone! Why are you waiting to live your life until you can see yourself as universally attractive? Literally no one is universally attractive. Go have fun and be grateful for your healthy and capable body.

I do have to post a disclaimer, because apparently hook up culture is a thing these days.

Women who want long term relationships, and women who just want casual fun seek different things. My height has never been an issue, because I’ve only ever dated to marry, so the women I’ve been with have never been the shallow height crazed women who participate in hook up culture.

I hate that I have to put in a disclaimer these days, because whenever I give long-term advice, someone is always like “yeah, but chef gets all the women!” Hook up guys get hook up women. They’re a wildly different breed from long term relationship women.

There’s probably more emotional difference from a long term woman compared to a hook up woman than there are differences between men and women. Just date your type. Don’t try and force either to switch. If you want long term and notice a hottie who is casual, friend zone her. Do not engage.

As much as I loathe a lot of red pill advice, that one about turning a street woman into a house wife bit is kinda clever. You don’t change people.

The same applies in reverse too. A woman who wants a long term guy won’t convert a hook up guy. Just stay in your lane. Don’t get desperate

I'm 5'2". I like guys around my height.

I've dated tall people before and it hurts my neck to look up to talk to them all the time.

Also I consider 5'8" tall. You're fine dude. Don't be insecure about height. Even if you were shorter, it straight up doesn't matter.

I think you'll be good. It's anecdotal, but some women love what they call 'short kings'. Aside from my sister dating guys who where shorter than me, at 173cm, I also have a wonderful and loving girlfriend who stands over me at 179cm. And she lets me know it doesn't bother her one bit. In some ways, she says she prefers it, but otherwise doesn't really compare.

She endears and treats me with respect despite being on the tall side, even for a Dutch female. I believe her when she says that height was never a factor in deciding who to be with, and I believe there are many more just like her out there.

You are still of the height wherein you can find plenty still shorter than you. But if you ever run into a tall lady that you also just so happen to be a little crazy about, don't be afraid to approach, you never know. After all, the answer is always no if you never ask.

Please don't do that. 5'8" is not short. That's ridiculous. It's a fad a trend, a very stupid one. But don't change yourself for this. There will be plenty of women interested in you and honestly, you only need a few good ones to actually matter and they would not discard you for your height. Work on yourself and work on the insecurity you feel about your height. Become more than that because you really are more than that.

It's unrealistic to make a blank statement that height matters to all women. Everyone has their own preferences so it's also a blank statement that height doesn't matter to any women.

I'm a man of 170 cm in height.

I have dated women between 147 cm and 173 cm. I'd have dated taller women if any were ever interested.

I have dated very beautiful women, including some whom friends commented were out of my league.

I am not an especially good looking man.

I'm now 36 with a child living with my girlfriend.

You'll be fine. Just work on being happy with yourself first and foremost. Meet people while you can and make friends. Best ways I ever met people was like that. Make friends. Meet more people. Eventually meet someone great. Dating apps also worked for me but geography was a factor for how well it worked (bigger city = better results).

Anyway. Don't waste money on an unnecessary and risky surgery. Height isn't that important. Plus, if you get to know someone as friends first, that's the best way for them to see you for all you are worth (for good or ill).

There are news stories about this which took a study out of context.

So I'm in the UK where the average height for women if 5"3, so statistically you're taller than a significantly proportion of that population.

So being 5"8 might narrow the dating field a bit, but academic research shows you've still got a chance with quite a good number of women.

And there is a piece here about self worth. Don't date someone who isn't in to you.

I'm 5"3 chubby girl in my late 30s. Last time I was dating some guys weren't attracted to me because of my size, that was fine as it was telling me we were incompatible anyway.

I’m 5’7” and I’ve been with people shorter and taller than me, including a four-year relationship with a 5’4” man. You will find people who think it’s important, but many of us don’t care. Do you want someone to be attracted to you because of your appearance or because of who you are? No shame either way, but if it’s the latter you’re better off not changing yourself to conform to some social beauty standard.

Bro im 5’6 and have it tougher than you but still pull in my favorite types of women. Just keep developing your skills and niche and the right women will gravitate to you. I literally wear shoe inserts to pretend to be 5’7 or 5’8 with boots. Women always want a taller guy but they wont convey it directly. You can make up for height by dressing nicely, grooming, staying fit, staying ontop of your money, and by being a good conversationalist. Good luck man, sounds like you have it easy tbh.

Yes women like tall guys. Yes being short drastically reduces your chances of getting with most girls.

But ask yourself this: Do you really want to be with some clown who thinks height is important to the point where she would curve you because of it?

There are girls that think a 1 inch difference is good enough. There are girls that will overlook your height if your other qualities are good.

Improve what you can improve, ignore the rest, get a woman that appreciates you, ignore the clowns. There no sense in wrecking your head around something that you can't change.

Edit: Before someone hounds my ass, yes I think guys who care about height are clowns too. Unless the person is unnaturally tall or unnaturally short it shouldn't be a factor.

Yes, height is an attractive trait in men, as is having an athlethic physique or nice face. Being slim or having a low WHR or a beautiful face is in women. Some women will not care however. It is not all that matters. Men can find a woman attractive without her being his 10/10.

This, just like everything else RP says, is just bullshit. It's only memes. If a girl ditches you because of your height, you sure dodged a bullet. True women will much rather value how you treat them, way more than your looks.

Sure, looks makes it easier to approach. But if you're willing to change your body, in a way that makes you more confident in yourself I suggest you hit the Gym. But remember, you should be doing this for yourself, not for the approval of others

From looking at your many replies and posts related to height, and the fact you don't like taller women (and even say that for you, the girl needs to be 10cm shorter than you), I feel like you're projecting A LOT here... You believe you're too short, and that it makes you less attractive, while you reject women for their height, and I'll guess it has to do with your own perception of yourself, as needing to be taller.

I'll again strongly recommend you seek a therapist to help you dismantle this burden you've put on yourself for being "short", which objectively, you are not. I don't know where you're from, but as I've said I'm the same height as you, and it's average. Although I'm from Brazil.

Please consider that insecurity is an issue many people struggle with, but making it an obsession is extremely off-puting for a lot of people.

Tl;Dr: You shouldn't your very existence to your height alone. It's not all of what you are about, or at least I believe it's not. Please seek therapy

Dude. I’m 5’8” and I have let that gotten to me as well. But one day, I have met dudes who were 5’3 - 5’5 told me themselves that they wish they had my height. I knew 6’1 dudes who wish they were 6’6.

We all have insecurities and we have let that eating us up for so long. Accept that you’re you!! You have no control of your height. But you have control of your body/physique and your attitude. I promise if you change your outlook on yourself and life, things will be better.

We’re not too apart in age as I am 27. I have dated women from 4’11 to my fiancée who is 5’9.
