Just throwing this out there. My current girlfriend of 7 years was single from 17 to 23 approximately. I noticed getting into the relationship in the first year, It felt like I was fighting off other guys daily.

Messages from randoms on FB, Messages from random dudes on Insta, Messages on Snap, Messages on dating apps.

It seems while a woman is single they accumulate a metric tonne of random guys across all platforms just keep them on the hook for attention and likes on their social media.

After the first 6 months we saw each other every day, I asked her if we are ‘serious’ and if she wanted to move in with me. She said yes, so I replied with so ‘what’s with all the random dudes messaging you explicit things, that’s kinda fucked up for me to see’?

She agreed it was fucked and she would delete the people she had never met in person. Her IG followers dropped from 2000 to 500. 1500 random dudes on IG deleted alone. I could see she was clearly upset doing this, she said she was worried about her social media likes and followers.

It’s crazy for me to think numbers of likes or followers on a website and randoms messaging you dribble can compete with a real world relationship?

Weird times these!

If I had left it another year, I think my girlfriend may have become so addicted to her social media account, she wouldn’t commit to a serious relationship with anyone as they may ask her to exclusive!

Is that what dating is like 2023? Has anyone else experienced this?
