How do Christian, Conservative Men and Women compare to their Liberal Counterparts?

I hear that Conservative women are no better then liberal women statistically, otherwise I hear conservative women are better for long term relationships.

They're no better by what metric? Height? Weight? Lifespan? Education? How many children they have? Their median income? Boob size?

This nebulous ''better'' is open to interpretation and everyone will have their own standard for what ''better'' is. From my perspective as a very liberal woman, a religious conservative man isn't going to be better in my eyes than a liberal man. They have views I don't agree with and would make them a poor choice for a partner for me.

On the other hand, that liberal man will most likely not be a better pick for a religious conservative woman. He would have views she doesn't agree with and they won't make for a good partner to her.

In America at least, devout Christians (namely, those who regularly attend church) are significantly less likely to divorce. What kind of statistics are you interested in? I believe both religious men and women tend to have lower n-counts and lower divorce rates and both these things probable come from their religion and communities.

Long-term you're better with a partner who is compatible to you and whose views and beliefs are compatible to yours. So if you're a conservative and religious, go for someone similar and vice versa.

I mean, they are certainly better for relationships with conservative men since they have more in common and will expect the same kind of things out of the relationship. They aren't going to be better partners for liberal or egalitarian men, that's for sure.

I don't have specific stats on-hand, but I do want to say: using someone's professed religiosity/political leaning as a short-hand for their relationship-ability is a recipe for having a really bad time.

I grew up in conservative minority Catholic social circles. Most of the people I know with confirmed high n-counts, babies out of wedlock, and constant relationship drama were from those circles. Many are regular church-goers and devout believers. My current g/f grew up liberal, mostly non-practicing, has only pursued long-term relationships and been with one man in her life before me. Her role models are her non-practicing liberal aunt and uncle who have been together 51 years (high-school sweethearts).

Date for religious/political compatibility of course, but if there was such a monopoly for fidelity or long-term relationship stability, it's found in the individual, not their professed beliefs.

The trad Christians I interact with most often actually tend to be more liberal politically, outside of a handful of issues like abortion.

Conservative evangelical Christians are an...interesting bunch. Very big on the "born again" stuff.

Im from a community where unless there’s some serious thing. There’s no expectation of divorce. Both sides are forced to counseling.

So less fear of that means more men are willing to jump into marriages quicker.

I think the problem with these trends is that are hard to study because the label of each religion.

Most people claim to be Christian in America but also are not very religious. In the same token, most people who claim to have no religion still believe in God or have some religious traditions that they observe once in a while.

Also, what is religiosity? If someone goes to church but does not believe in God, is that person religious? If someone prays all day but never goes to church, is that person religious? If someone has personal religious beliefs but not subscribe to any religion, are they religious?

I laugh when some atheists proudly say that China is atheist, while in fact it is very religious on issues such as belief in karma, luck, reincarnation, etc. and just because they do not happen to worship gods they are atheists somehow.

So it is very complex issue.

In America conservative black people vote liberal, and yet they are as homophobic and as xenophobic as white Christians and secular Asians. In fact it seems that only white cosmopolitans embrace progressivism fully while other groups subscribe to some form of conservatism anyway, regardless of what they vote for. Progressivism for most minorities seem like an alliance... they vote for it to unify with others, but do not practice it fully themselves.

Now add the complexity of gender!

My lived experience both personal and observed of others...no real difference. Don't have stats but assume they'd be easy enough to find. Divorce rates and declared religious position, etc. Been married twice...first one conservative Christian..cheated on me after 17 years of supporting her (never made her work a day in her life). Second one...liberal non-religious...cheated on me for the first 4 years of our relationship...I only found out in year 5...after a wedding and a baby...good times 😄

This is all anecdotal but:

I've known a lot of both and it's like 50/50. Some of the craziest nights I've had were with conservative Christian girls. Affairs. Divorces. Kids, lots of kids. But some are in life long relationships, good families and all. I think I know 3 or 4 couples that were very conservative, married young and are still together. 1 of them are a gay couple.

I'd say the nonreligious/liberal people were more likely to have good relationships for longer, but took their time to get there. Some had their hoe years (men and women), but were generally safe and more responsible too.

Christianity is a broad group. Some are so devout divorce is excommunication while on the other side you have people who only seem to be religious for show, and then everyone in between. Those more on the secular side of things naturally divorce more often, generally speaking the devout ones are quite serious about their unions because it's not purely romantic.
