So my situation is that I (30M) am considering divorcing my wife (30F), but I have some reservations of feeling crude or selfish. We have been married for 6 years and have a 5 year old, and she is 2 months pregnant currently (quite sure it is mine). There’s are two reasons for me to consider divorce:

1) Infidelity: Basically sexting. No physical relationship to my knowledge. This happened a few weeks ago and also found other messages with two other people 2 years ago that we had previously addressed).

2) verbal/emotional abuse: For at least the last 2 years she had a very bad almost impulsive yelling problem as well as just general hostility and lack of respect towards me. This included gaslighting and not allowing me to be independent and social without her.

Regarding the abusive behavior, I would constantly push back and remind her how unreasonable she was being and that she has to stop yelling at/in front of our child as it will affect his behavior. She refused and would always go back to it. No surprises that he now has behavior issues, likely from anxiety or ADD.

She has struggled with depression in the past but has sought a therapist and was semi-regular about seeing her for a couple months.

Fast forward to now. I told her a couple weeks ago that I don’t think we should be together anymore. This stemmed from an argument where I revealed I knew about her messages. I rode the couch a couple days with full intentions of going through with it. She absolutely love bombed me and promised a laundry list of things she was going to change. Appointments with lawyers unfortunately couldn’t be made until next week and since then she has definitely changed her tone towards me although our son she still cannot handle and resorts to yelling sometimes.

The reason I’m struggling with guilt about leaving her is because of 1) her being pregnant, and 2) I told her I’d give her a second chance. I really think I fucked up with this because I still intend to divorce, I’m just buying time until I can meet with a lawyer. I’m afraid it’s going to be a shit show when I break the news to her once again.

Does anybody have any advice? I could absolutely just give in and give her a fair shot but I have very little faith she will actually change as well as I honestly feel deep down that I just don’t really feel a true connection anymore. And I feel that a lot of her “changed” behavior right now is out of fear of losing me instead of true change.
