"Evolutionary psychologist" isn't a real thing. At least it's certainly not a thing that should be applied to any sort of sociology or interpersonal relationships because we don't fucking live in caves any more. You know what other people love calling themselves "evolutionary psychologists"? Racist cunts who read stuff like Richard Herrnstein. Evolutionary psychology has no place in modern society. It does very little in helping us understand our behaviour because we have built societies and civilisations and living structures that are entirely outside of the world we evolved into. It's pointless.

Any guy who in 2023 is making videos about "female mating behaviour" and "the consequences of raising nice boys" and "Why men care about women's sexual history: what women don't understand" just needs throwing in the bin.

Fuck this guy.

He was on the whatever podcast. From my impression, he seems like the classic red pill guy - scared of marriage/commitment and generalizes all women. He’s in his 40s and still single which says a lot about how the red pill is going for him. He did say a lot of his clientele are divorced men who have been affected by marriage so he’s advocating for men’s mental health. I’m all for men getting therapy and seeking treatment but if this guy is their therapist… sounds like it could do more harm than good.

I think he's super off-putting, and I'm a little confused why he has so many subscribers.
The writing feels rambling and the way he reads it is awkward. Like he's trying to turn his baseless opinions into a content mill. I guess that's pretty par for the course with youtubers, but the false authority this guy is trying to project makes me cringe.

What do you see in this guy and how he lives his life that makes you want think like him? Can you really know who this guy really is and what his motives are if he's a social media personality whose profits directly depends on increasing his number of viewers?

I just watched his "How to BE A MAN" video. He claims we have an identity crisis as to what a man is compared with people 100 years ago. My response is: what's his evidence in that? He didn't really prove that we have a crisis at all, just kinda wants the audience to believe that. Secondly, he then said lots of ppl think masculinity is performative (like learn how to fish, how to fight, seduce women) and his take to be a man is to be able to stand up for yourself. My response is: well isn't standing up for yourself also performative?

I think you should reflect on your own life and whether any of this crap has ever worked for you. And if it hasn't, maybe you should think about how using "hacks" to trick people into liking you isn't a great strategy to having a relationship.

Just ran across this guy and his "Frame" theory. It's basically all about "There can't be two captains of a ship!" and says privilege is a thing, don't try to change it, so might as well center the man and roll with it.

I am listening to him now on Soft while Underbelly and he did Not present himself as an evolutionary psychologist. He said that he is a psychologist who is helping men. I am a fan of David Buss who wrote the book When Men Act Badly. He is great at describing relationships of men and woman, he is no bashing men like the tile implies.
Some of the things he said in the interview were highly troubling. I love men and have a great husband for 25-30 years. We enjoyed each physically, mentally and doing things together. This Orion Taraban said in order to keep a man is to become your slutty-est self and submit to a man. Also he implies that women generally should not belittle men by mocking them. I am not sure how he is helping men by backing up some of the inequalities that have been in our patriarchal society. As well as telling women they need to trick a man by submission and becoming a slut.

Also mocking is a terrible behavior that is used by bullies. Not only women are guilty of this disgusting behavior.

I know this is old but I just came from his youtube video where he likened relationships to a football team and how disabled people can't play so therefore anyone with emotional injuries shouldn't be playing. What the actual fuck. I can't even begin to unpack how wrong that feels. I entertained the idea that there's value to that idea, but I just feel sick that he's insinuating that a) healing can actually ever be 100% complete and b) people who aren't perfect don't deserve loving relationships. He presents the idea like it's so simple yet profound...it's giving totalitarian tendencies.

Granted I'm not super educated on evopsych, the biggest glaring issue I see with these guys is they give so much partial info on things that those who aren't educated extrapolate bits and pieces and start putting together these odd ball dating channels and theories of their own.

Most of these people have used these things as a way to ABUSE and exploit others. I get that Red Pill doesn't discuss morality and ethics much, but come on.

A lot of these bunked out partial theories are actually causing massive mental health issues and trauma on others. It's all fucked up and a lot of this education should be reserved for the professionals and not abuse-motivated chucklefucks online.

I watched a lot of his videos out of curiosity. I don’t think he provided much of any proof that his theories are correct. As a woman who has dated many men, I haven’t found his advice to be relevant in my own life. I think his advice also leans in a direction of normalizing competitive dynamics and manipulative dynamics in relationship. I personally haven’t found the men in my life to be seeking that style of relating. I also questioned whether his material would be applicable in alternative style relationships.

He is amazing in that he brings something new to psychology and and how relationships work and don’t work. I have been a psychologist working with couples for over thirty years. Absolutely nothing new has been introduced to us in this time. Nothing. The “new” self help books and relationship information has ALL been repackaging of the same stuff. There is value in the repackaging because often a person cannot absorb info from one therapist but totally get it when they hear it from someone else. I know that ‘new’ books and new programs absolutely look like new stuff to the non professionals. Orion brings new material whether you like the material or not. I can hardly believe it!
