It was only perfect for Barbie’s. They are pretty clear about that. Kens were an afterthought for them. “Where do the kens live” or w/e shows that. The map, afaik, didn’t have an area for kens. It was left with kens can get a lower court justice maybe and a joke that Barbie land could become as equal for kens as for women in the real world.

Also in the theater when Ken broke down, about the 99% percent of the audience (which were women) started laughing really hard. I had to fake a laugh because my sisters were sitting next to me and they were laughing, and due to past experience I think they would have pictured me as some bad guy or a loser if I said that something is wrong with that. Maybe im overreacting but I don't know

That's Hollywood's new agenda: men bad, women good. I won't be watching any new American movie for a while. They hate half of humanity, so it's fair to return them the favor.

I watch old movies and series these days. And also content on YouTube without misandry. Content that respects men is getting rare, but it's possible.

No, the film has a narrator speak about how the Ken's have took the first step in a long road to achieve the equality that women currently have in the 'real world' which is presumably talking about the fake equality in the Barbie movie where the patriarchy apparently still exists and it's just hidden

No, Barbie and Ken feel defined by their creator in the sense that Barbie feels like she has no personality/purpose and Ken is trying to latch onto hobbies as a way to define himself as he feels he was designed purely for the sake of Barbie.

It is, it's promoting the idea of a female run society as a method to try and bash a male run society. The trouble is the film never actually says that the female run society is bad while it constantly bashes the male run society. The solution should be true equality with male & female, but the movie doesn't do that and hides under the guise of satire leaving the audience with a rather disgusting message.

The film admittedly does not play it seriously, treating it more as him over-reacting as if he was being friendzoned rather than a similar mental breakdown to what Barbie has been having the entire film.

It's possible that people laugh even if they don't fully understand or even find it funny. Personally I would'nt suggest associating with people who actively think that male suffering is bad, however this might just be a case of them not being able to fully process comedy.

This is a problem impacting a lot of the 2000's media where the audience are given laugh cues and will laugh regardless of not understanding the joke or will laugh because others are laughing. Thor L&T is a good example of this where Jane Foster having cancer is expected to be taken seriously, yet the movie makes jokes about it and because the movies have trained people to laugh to certain remarks by characters, the cinema laughed when it was revealed she had cancer. Similarly the remarks where a character insults another one, such as claiming Barbie or Batman is facist.

Humour/comedy seems broken in current society to where it's simply a matter of calling someone something horrific or showing suffering of some kind can elicit a laugh.

I say this as someone who identifies more with MRAs than feminists, and it may be a hot take, but I think this movie is mildly misandrist at most. I don’t think it was super deep like some people may. This was just a movie that was huge, and was targeted towards women who played with Barbies as kids. Was it great, no. Does it promote hate, not really.

Kens were second class citizens because they were created to be props for Barbies by Mattel, and tbh this movie does shit on Mattel. Honestly the Barbies having no empathy for kens is not a deep message, it’s just how they were designed, and by the end, while the kens lose, at least Margot robbie’s character developed some kind of empathy.

I agree it does portray kens as dumb, and men in the real world as shitty, and of course that’s not the whole truth of the real world, but the reason they are portrayed that way is because many women have bad experiences with men, and kens are dumb because they weren’t created to be anything other than accessories. The kens began to become more at the end, even if they didn’t gain the power to be part of the government. Really though they still are pretty dumb in that world where the Barbies have all the education.

I do think there were some negative male stereotypes portrayed, I don’t see this as feminist propaganda. The main message of the movie in my opinion was to be who you are regardless of who the society you grew up in expects you to be.

Obviously it was marketed towards women, but not really to man haters in my opinion. Really it was supposed to be a fun movie. Not some radical feminist utopia. At the end it’s clear there are things that can be improved in both worlds, and yes, in the distant past and occasionally now, women feel like the kens do, that being a side character.

I think Ken or “The Kens” were supposed to be the antagonists of the film so Ken getting his comeuppance is meant to be joyful to the audience. We aren’t supposed to be identifying with Ken because he’s the villain of the film.

I think another point to pay attention to is that the Barbie Universe isn’t meant to be realistic, it’s literally the world of plastic toys. Trying to find logic in an illogical situation is a fool’s errand.

Basically the Ken's are living in a way the women are living in the real world ..basically as Ken being just Barbies accessorie is like women being seen as nothing more than a man's eye candy ..and Ken's fighting eachother for Barbies attention is like how some women would tear other women down for a man's validation but the Ken's had to stop doing that and emotionally support eachother and realize they are more than just Ken's..they too could build up and do better for themselves ..something like that :)

It was a depiction and glorification of gynocentrism (a society focused on women's self interests and women's benefits at the expense of men's) which is ironic when compared to modern western society which is the same but more subtle.

In the movie gynocentrism actually leads to female supremacy, which the film's fans claim is just an intended exaggeration but no, it is the dream of most radical misandrist feminists like the film's director, Greta Gerwig.

The main problem with feminism is that it only focuses on women's issues while completely denying the existence of men's issues while claiming feminism fights for both men and women which is actually an intended contradiction that most people don't notice or talk about. Many men who support feminism do so because they are unaware that its purpose is to make their life worse at the benefit of women's. If you try to explain it to them, you get labeled as an anti feminist, as an incel or whatever else shaming language they can come up with, because they don't understand how brainwashed they are, because every news outlet is spreading the same message, but it's a message that has no facts to back it up, it is propaganda and it works.
