It's clearly not affecting women that much since Hollywood is basically ran by old men who are obsessed with very young women and often push the older man dating a young woman dynamic down everyone's throats but the average age gap still remains at 3 years at best.

Is it just me or is 2.3 years not that big of a gap? Like once you get out of school the people surrounding you are no longer organized by age. So that people still seek out and find strangers within a 2.3-year range says more about people’s dating preferences that who appears on TV.

I don't think so per se, but women tend to be attracted to men within a few years of their own age. So an 18-22 year old might like the K-Pop guys, a 22-30 year old might be attracted to a Timothee Chalamet or a Tom Holland, a 30-40 year old might like a Hemsworth or Zak Efron, and so on down the line.

TV existing at the same time as old white men being in charge has been the way things are since TV started existing.

Does this massive presence of older men in power with very little air time for younger guys contribute to the age gap in dating?

The most common reasons cited by women for preferring older men are maturity and stability, and these differences are much more pronounced at younger ages.

What the fuck. I would assume it's more because women mature at a faster rate on average than men so we gotta cook for a few more years to be on the same page as women.

I wouldn't say they influence since on average age gap relationships are between 2-7 years varying from country to country

Therefore women want to naturally date up in the age department

Rupert Murdoch is a great example. He has dictatorial control, of a significant portion of the media. He essentially controls ‘the narrative.’ Thus editors of The WSJ, The Post, Fox, Sky, plus numerous other global ‘news’ providers, all must accede their journalistic license, to the man cutting their cheques.

This is relevant because actors, journalists, and people in the media, and even in politics, choose to acquiesce to those cutting the cheques. It’s why Activists like Bernie Sanders, whilst ‘popular’, will never taste a lick of power. His stances don’t make people of influence, rich. That’s ultimately the insidious impact of media. Of consumerism. The effect on the masses. The remedy? A well informed, critically thinking populace.

I'd like to see the age gap of couples and marriages. A lot of men are fine dating someone younger for sex but I suspect many would rather marry someone of their standing. Your data is for couples living together which is a commitment closer to the marriage side.

2 of Trump's wives were like 20 years younger. I'm sure that helps normalize the relationship for conservatives when they see him with his 24 year younger ex model wife.

Politicians are the last people I would think of if someone asked me which groups of people influence dating preferences the most. There are actors of all ages. Timathee Chalamet, Tom Holland, Noah Centineo, Pete Davidson, Will Poulter, Logan Lermam, Ezra Miller, etc are all under 30 and pretty popular. Most of the actors you listed have all been famous since they were young. Your claim doesn't hold up
