Also I don’t think I wear masculine clothing really, half of my wardrobe in high school was skirts that went to my feet. I actually had a girl come up to me in high school and said, “ why are you always wearing skirts?” Then I told her “ because I like them. Why are you always wearing jeans?”

Define girly. Every culture has its different norms when it comes to fashion that another culture might find as feminine. For instance, a man wearing a skirt in America would not be seen as masculine, but in Scotland they were kilts. Anything resembling a dress would be seen as feminine here in America, but the pope wears a gown, in Japan men wear kimonos, wayback men wore to nicks that resemble a dress, so it really just depends.

If they explicitly solicit my advice, I'll advise them to wear vests full of pockets instead, but that's more me being in love with fucking pockets and "more pockets" are my answer to life, the universe and everything than it is anything else.

Finally, if anything, in my experience, this sub is highly libertarian, not conservative. To use the cliché and humorous phrase/slogan, most of the folks here are fully in favor of gay couples marrying, buying fully legal automated weaponry so they could defend their also fully legal weed farm from illegal attacks, and sell this weed to paying customers at prices both sides of the transaction agree to.

As others have noted, we're collectively not very conservative; we oppose much of modern liberal insanity, but we oppose much of modern conservative insanity, too; it's just quieter, given the platform. And on an individual level, we're a politically diverse bunch.

To answer your question: the delineation between masculine and feminine in clothing is entirely artificial. I'm opposed to men "wearing girly clothes" when that means I'm expected to work in an overheated office with women a third of my size who are allowed to wear clothing that has them showing more skin (not more proportionately, MORE) than I am; logically, people should be allowed to dress for the weather. Beyond that? I don't care.

Look, here in the US, a stereotypcial schoolgirl skirt is considered strongly feminine; a kilt, strongly masculine. What's the difference? How far the pleating extends. That's it.

Fashion isn't something I see, so my question is always "why?" I wear what's comfortable/functional, both of which are the opposite of what girl clothes seem to provide. They're almost 100% of the time geared towards form over function.

Even a dress, which I could see being nice for keeping the boys cool, can be a man version by wearing a kilt.

Hi, Femboy here, so it’s biased. Personally I just think it depends on how it fits one’s body, like I’ll wear crop tops or short shorts (maybe skirts) if they flatter my body shape. But I usually just prefer woman’s shirts/ pants because they either have a better design or fit for me. Also leggings are comfortable af. Obviously I don’t care if men wear feminine or women’s clothing, same for women wearing manly or men’s clothing, but I do think many public femboys have an ill fitting/ not that good sense of style. But I just like having more clothing options to add extra spice

I think that the issue here is that 'masculine ' clothes worn by women are generally women's clothes, which are cut / shaped to fit women's bodies.

Girlie clothes would similarly need to be fashioned to suit men's bodies.

I have a male friend who cross dresses, and looks fabulous.

Similarly, why can't men easily wear clothing fashioned from decadent fabrics and wonderful patterns of all kinds? Isn't it time we had more options for men than the same old dark fabrics and conservative ' masculine ' options for those who want them?

It's only due to Beau Brummel 1778-1840 regency dandy that men have such a restrictive pallete of colours to choose from. Surely, after 200 years of dull, it's time for change?

I think men should be able to wear what they want (I'd be a hypocrite to think otherwise tbh). both the left and the right have such a massive overreaction to men dressing feminine bc, surprise, they see it as deviating from what males are "supposed" to do, which the left sees as good (only when it's about rejecting masculinity/maleness) and the right sees as bad (because of the leftist message that that's what crossdressing means).

The advocacy for men to be more like women is something we tend to stand against, as it's not only non beneficial to either gender it's directly harmful.. there was a time I wanted to wear long skirts on summer, it was comfy, let my legs breath and protective. Most of my friends tought it was a good idea, as long as I did it indoors because i'd get ridiculed at streets, except my exwife, she straight up made fun of me (I still think it was envy because it looked better on me) and it wasn't even a girly skirt, it was a long black without any ornaments

Why do some people pick fashion over functionality.

If I saw a man in girly shoe like high heels or stilettos and he wasn't trans or a cross dresser or anything like it would be pretty god dam weird due to being dangerous and pointlessly fashionable.

My stance? I don't like girly girls or bimbos so I dislike girly dressings boys even more. I believe in efficiency first then fashion and trust me when I say I like to dress well and shop around to find a deal but I dislike heavy girly things like pink because of the anyoning people who tend to pick it.

well, women wear mens clothes. In fact almost everything women wear today came from men. Trousers, leggings, high heals, suspenders, all of that was male fashion. So if woman can wear "mens clothes", men should be able to wear "womens clothes". Sadly, when men wear "womens clothes" they are labelled...

I have this dream of one day opening a shop that only admits men. It would sell clothing for men, ut designed better than most mens clothes, and include things proper shorts (not just short trousers) and clothes that fit, lift and enhance my shape. It woupd also feature a hairdressers including hair systems (wigs) and a councelling / safe space, and waxing / laser hair removal area.
