I totally agree, also a lot of these posts treat men/women like a hive mind. I see a fair few that are ‘This lady from my office said she liked me and now she’s blocked me. Women. Why are you like this?’ Idk, go ask the lady from your office?

I agree fully, such a wholesome statement. It's too much boxing, general statistics and experiences are a thing but in the end we are individuals, not hiveminds.

If people accept the world is nuanced that means their over arching paradigms that help “explain the world” and make it known and predictable fail to work.

So what people will do is say the token “exceptions exist” but they will continue to behave as if saying that doesn’t mean like we need to act like that matters in any way shape or form.

Totally agree with you, and not just in dating. I think this applies to all online discussion on anything including politics, science, etc.

It’s a consequence of identity politics that arises from our innate biological primate disposition to self-identify with tribes based on our belief systems.

I'd add one modifier to your statement, * On social media. Social media curates an echo chamber, people use it to reinforce/validate there own beliefs. When you talk to people in real life, they are much more open to, and accepting of nuanced opinions.

Well, i think it goes like this: If there are people on all positions of the spectrum of what they could want, then someone should like me. If nobody likes me, it's easier to just assume that this information about people having diverse preferences is wrong, and that in fact, everybody unfairly likes just one trait expression that i unfairly do not possess and cannot acquire. So i am better of hating the other sex, demand fairness and acceptance for what i am in the name of social justice, or just shaming people for not having me as a preference.

While the actual reason why nobody likes me is likely rooted in something completely different that i am unwilling to reflect on, accept and change.

Kinda agree but we have to understand that for very high percentages generalizing is almost acceptable. If I were to say that “9 women out of 10 prefer taller men than them” saying that “every woman” has that preference is wrong. But telling everybody “most girls” it’s not the full picture either. The figure is much higher than a little over one half.

The good news is that when you have data you can just use it. Instead of saying “every x, most y, etc.” you can just say “87.4% of males in the US aged from 18 to 25 believe yada yada”, “36.9 of females in Europe with a degree think that bla bla” and it’s much more precise and honest.

Finallllyyyyyy, a post on here I can really get behind.

I have been thinking the same thing! So many people on here try so hard to fit everyone into a box to make themselves comfortable, but the reality is humans are complex beings that are multifaceted and ever changing based on media they consume, people they hang around, life experience, etc.

Not everyone is shitty and selfish- although if you spend too long on this sub and a few others I can think of, it can be hard to remember that when there is so much condensed negativity.

That's wrong. Most people are too nuanced in their world views, which is why they live in a matrix.

The world is pretty black and white, but people like yourself like to talk in anecdotes and individual experiences rather than data and societal experiences, and then you try to project that as the truth of the world.

A short guy getting a girlfriend is not proof that short guys get girlfriends. It does not solve the problem for the other short guys that are single. This is why anecdotes aren't valid, because they can not be applied to a wider population, which is the actual issue that is being discussed. Not whether your friend David can find a girlfriend or not.
