We do not know how selective women will turn out to be as material need for men trends towards zero. We are in new territory. Female selectivity, however picky on a hardwired basis, has always been constrained by culture and environment in ways that are less and less true every day.

Female mate choice in such an environment might become a problem, or the level of female selectivity might plateau at something tolerable. We do not know. It does seem true that sexually disenfranchised men do seem to be being sedated by technology. However, should their numbers grow large enough, there is no guarantee that such sedation remains effective. Furthermore, disaffected males can be a problem even if sedated. Societies have to compete, and if some other type of society without large numbers of single men proves more materially productive, we would also face an enormous problem.

I am hopeful that the natural levels of female selectivity does not prove to be enormously high. I also believe that there are measures that can influence female selectivity that do not involve forcing women to be with men they do not find attractive.

The current situation is trending towards polygamy. Most women desire only the most high status men, and they are preferring to share those men (knowingly or not) rather than committing to average men.

And history has shown that polygamy fuels violence. So, by "smashing the patriarchy" and eliminating the norm of monogamy, we are likely regressing to a much more violent society.

You’re only looking at one single factor.

You’re not acknowledging the more important secondary factors:

lack of purpose
lack of belonging
lack of societal cohesion
no wars
an increasingly divided and perpetually polarized society that is currently undeniably anti-male

Add all those together with a the sexless crisis and it’s almost a law of gravity that you’ll see:

more male suicides
more radical male thought leaders
more mass shootings

If we’re lucky, we’ll mediate these with things like:

facilitating more men to leaving the west via remote work opportunities
continuing to create better self medication methods with porn and video games
normalize and legalize sex work

If we don’t do the latter things, it’s almost a given that, at the very least you’ll see more and more men short circuiting as their primal biological drive is both not satisfied and not even acknowledged as a real thing.

Galloway is absolutely right that listless men who feel “obsolete” will get into some bad shit. You don’t need to read a whole lot about the Weimar Republic to see that.

It sounds silly, but only something like a full scale war, alien invasion or meteor could change the trend.

I don't believe that there's some massive apocalyptic event coming due to a percent of men not being able to get laid like a lot of these male self help figures like Scott Galloway would want you to believe.

If you look at history, dating strategy has indeed destroyed whole civilizations at an apocalyptic level.

Female selectivity is something which has been part of our species literally since our dawn, it's natural and society won't fall apart because women actually get to have a mate choice again as opposed to being forced to rely on a male.

There is a dynamic here. Sure, women are more selective, but men have leverage on other things like, you know, actually doing useful things and keeping infrastructure. The problem is that this leverage is not obvious for dating, so consequences of disenfranchising those men come when it is too late to fix the situation.

I think we're already seeing at least one major concern with populations dropping below replacement rates of reproduction.

They're trying to solve it with the transgender propaganda, but that's not a real solution. If they went in with crisper and turned 2/3 of human babies female, that would have a huge impact on the next generation. This problem used to be solved by two kingdoms agreeing to go to war with each other to cut the male population in half, but drone warfare has eliminated that. The people in power are happy to rapture the bangable ladies up to their level, and watch the underperforming men scream at the football game on TV...nothing will come from this except for more young men going bonkers and gadooshing themselves, trying to pretend life is a simulation.

Men around here like to believe they are going to band together and take down society if they don’t get attractive women. It won’t happen. It’s easy to believe this a huge problem affecting millions when you spend all your time an echo chamber and your social media algorithms are bringing you incel content all the time. It’s actually a very small proportion of men being effected. The numbers will likely go up, and more will fall to addiction, suicide and crime. However. If the numbers got big enough, and this portion of society became a real issue, there’s a very simple fix. Governments will go to war and conscript single men. Problem solved. By the end of the war, they are either dead or too messed up to cause anymore trouble.

There is no mating crisis. Low birth rates are a temporary condition. At some point the hatred of motherhood will no longer be pushed by the man haters.

The messaging will change and it’ll be promoted, or a certain man hating death cult will find there’s a lot of pressure and their money taken away.

I always ask myself how come these lonely desperate men don't just band together like women do. Form meaningful bonds, friendships, hey try to be FWB with each other. Women can do all that just fine. Just be open to each other and not bully each other. Endless fun, friendship, video games, basically a lifetime of frat houses. That sounds way more fun than the tedious and thankless job of parenting...and it truly is thankless, listen to the women who lament. Or struggling with incompatibility with your wives and so on and so forth.

This obsession with procreation is absurd. There are so many other ways to enjoy life, like mentioned above. Enough with this obsession of sex, ruling your lives like zombies. There are billions of people already, seriously? Travel, get hobbies, friends, the possibilities are endless. These days, there are toys that do a way better job in bed compared to another human anyway.

It won't directly because men cannot affect society as a whole even if they tried. The control of society is mostly with women and they are the ones that can determine the shape of society in years to come.

However as a domino effect of a larger civilization issue in the macro sense is what's worrying. Increasing number of crimes are part of this. The effect of this flawed mating system has resulted in people falling to various addictions instead of progressive society. While the number of people doing good trumps the number of people pulling back, it is worthy to note that 1 person can destroy the efforts of 100 people. And we are seeing that now. Trust issues, insecurities etc are plaguing today's marriageable youth. Its the domino effect of society.

While its simple enough to say that don't care what society says do what you want. But the effects are seen none the less. The society is such that a woman isn't safe alone so she has to take a lot of steps to make sure she is not getting into trouble. Does she want to do all that? Surely not. But it has become necessary. Does she want to question so much before meeting someone? Ofcourse not. But she has to take the necessary steps in todays world because of how the society has been. And its our fault. We have let it rot for decades now and the effects are catching up. In the last 30 years the degradation of male vs female sexuality has peaked so much that now women don't feel safe even in public places. Kind of our parents fault, but they didn't know any better as well. They did what they thought was the right thing which means "do what everyone is doing".

And we are doing exactly the same. Just accept it and move on. Our children will feel the same when we leave the world worse that it was given to us. And we will regret the decisions we made. And how we rotted society by creating unnecessary controversies instead of finding amicable solutions or simply ignoring and calling "everything will be alright"
