Yes title is intentionally wordy to preemptive accusation of painting with an overly wide brush as well as acknowledging all the exceptions and whatnot. (but it's gonna happen anyway so I'll just apologize in advance for any generalization and whatnot).

That aside, are most people who claim that "what does [insert gender here] brings little/nothing to the table" simply too independent to be in relationships? As in, they are capable of handling all aspects of their adult lives on a satisfactory level, as well as well adapted to long periods of solicitude (not necessarily anti-social either). Thus with such perimeters is there even a justification for them to even bother with relationships?

Follow up question, how achievable is to reach that state of independence? Not just financially/materialistically, but also mentally/emotionally and socially? (the last part though the most difficult to quantify and seemingly irrelevant but whose existence would explain why someone who nominally fulfill all other requirements would make loud proclamations of them being what they are).
