The problem is that they are not so focused on self improvement as on turning you into a very specific idea of what a man should be, and it's usually an idea that's based on very outdated, unhealthy, and in some cases even dangerous description of masculinity and being a man.

Yes, if you want to be a firefighter or a police officer, then it's a good idea that you are physically strong, that you're disciplined, that you're willing to take dangerous risks and take on a role of responsibility and leadership. But fire fighters can be both men and women. And not all men need to be fire fighters.

We also need men who are artists, poets, parents, care providers and lots of other roles. We need men who work boring 9-5 jobs rather than working to become some tech drop shipping billionaire or whatever it is they're selling now.

Red pill "self improvement" often overlooks some of the other vital aspects of improving yourself, like taking care of your mental health, learning to be empathetic towards others, learning to love yourself, being patient, being able to express yourself and your emotions in healthy ways, embracing vulnerability and so on.

These lighter "self improvement" videos also work as a bit of a gateway drug because they generally focus on quite conservative ideas of gender, social values, social hierarchy and so on. It starts with videos saying "if you want to be a man that women like, then you need to be [dated conservative idea of a man], because women want [dated conservative idea of women and their desires]." Then guys try this and it doesn't work, because most women don't actually follow those dated ideas of how women should behave, and most women don't want a man pulled straight out of 1950, because, you know, it's 2023. So those men who put that work in get resentful, and all the while the social media algorithms are pushing them deeper and deeper down the red pill path. "Women don't respect men any more because of feminism. If you want women to like you, then you have to manipulate them into liking you, women are Bad People and are not as intelligent/powerful/worthy of respect as men" etc etc.

TLDR: It's only self improvement if you actually think all men are supposed to be fire fighters, and all women want are fire fighters. And social media algorithms feed off the resentment of men who these self improvement videos fail to help, pushing them deeper down the dark path.

Now seriously, you cannot say Red Pill sole purpose is to improve yourself and become capable and strong. Red Pill tries to convince you that people have an instrinsic value based on their money, their physical attractiveness and look.

Even the name, Red Pill, comes from the Matrix movie, and tries to say that you live in a world of lies and by taking whatever message they want you're "waking up" and "knowing the truth". What does that have to do with being a better man? Nothing on its own. That means they can feed you whatever ideas they want; and the ideas they feed you are incel, misogynisctic ideas while being bombarded constantly with discrete self deprecating ideas. For example, when they say "you can become a high value men", they convince you you're not already of value to people. When they say women are doing "hypergamy" while you struggle to find a partner, they convince you that you're of a low value for women to notice you.

Red Pill makes you think you're special and awaken, but you're just worse than ever and you keep watching content that will progressively make you feel worse, while dreaming one day you will be like one of those gurus that have money and time to become what they are and convince you THAT is what you should aspire to be.

You shouldn't aspire to be like a dude on the internet making money out of you and others hearing what they say, supposedly helping you trying to become better. You should aspire to be the best version of yourself, that only you can figure out what it is.

There are dozens of better spaces for self-improvement. why pick the one that chooses to be mysoginistic and slowly makes you miserable.

If you're looking at red pill as just a gospel for men to be self-improving then you don't need red pill. What you need is something to help you self improve which can be found in a lot of different areas. Red pill wants to snare you in with the idea that it's just about self-improvement.... And then comes the misogyny.

It's like a trick to make you think it's a good thing, but I think it actually badly affects the lives of people that believe it. There's a hole in their lives somewhere and some youtuber/lots of social media use can't fill that hole.

You can improve your life in the obvious ways like excersising, eating healthy, career progression, meaningful relationships etc, but people that consume redpill content turn bitter and at times unpleasant to be around which doesn't help with the meaningful relationship part.. then they become a sad and depressed 'lone wolf' and the only meaningful relationship they have is with their YouTube account.

Let's pretend that is accurate. How does the movement claim a man ought to improve themselves? Does it encourage introspection, self-reflection? Therapy? Emotional growth? Empathy?

I have everything positive to say about exercising, focusing on one's own needs first and then expanding outward later, but there's far more attached to the movement than that surface level stuff. The whole moniker itself is linked to seeing through a purported illusion. It isn't just a self-improvement bit, otherwise it wouldn't need a special name.

Self-improvement is the chaser and much of the self-improvement advice is mere common sense. Most terpers are not incels, but many incels were once terpers. They are subsets of the broader manosphere.

Red pill is saying that the fault you aren't successful with women is within you and you need to fix yourself.

This is often true and sounds good at face value. The problem is that the solutions redpill offers men are based on a flawed worldview. The framework redpill gives men is often based on bunk logic and pseudoscience. The advice given to men in these communities is highly suspect.

A lot of red pillers do include a lot of stuff about weightlifting, confidence, and self improvement. Which are all great things. But they are not unique to redpill.

The problem with redpill is that much of the content is about tricking women into liking you, being very materialistic, viewing women as inferior, and other stuff that is pretty awful.

I think the term “red pill” has sort of become used as a blanket term for any shitty “self help” scam artists that use a number of buzz words, but from what I remember the origins of the red-pill community seemed to be hooking you in by selling “self-improvement” ideas, only to quickly devolve into “buy this product, adhere to these specific ideologies, and then you will improve.” The reason it is so effective is that so many young people, men in particular, feel that they have been “left behind,” in the sense that society as a whole doesn’t care about them. The “red pill” influencers preyed on this and instead of teaching genuine self improvement to help young people find direction, they used ideologies and blamed other groups of people. But be wary of “self improvement” influencers in general. Just because they aren’t part of the “red pill” community doesn’t mean they aren’t scam artists. They’re doing the same thing minus the ideologies.

The core message of the red pill is that women aren't angelic or good which the mainstream apparently believes, and instead they are actually quite "toxic" in dating and relationships. Self-improvement is the red pill's tool for dealing with this supposed reality. You become as high value as possible so you can theoretically attract women easily but yet don't commit to them because they are supposedly toxic.

No. The redpill is about relationships, how you should treat women and get women. How to make men look up to you. With a smidget of improving yourself to get women and impress men. And conforming to a very specific standard. And having other men live vicariously through the guys they have on a pedestal.

It’s less about improving yourself for better health, and looks or how to a better, kinder person in society. Nor does it teaches you to be a good father or husband and accepting your individuality.

A lot of these redpill spokesman are grifting lonely men so they can get your money.

Well that's how they reel you in at first. The self improvement is to bite and peak your interest, because especially when you're young, the fantasy of money cars and women is high. They sell you that dream. Tell you to buy a course and they'll get you there guaranteed. And when you notice the teachings are just pseudo science and bullcrap, that when you get the " you just suck and gotta fix yourself bro". It's just to make money off of the insecure, and ignorant audience.

Red pill is just a movement and or belief. There are lies mixed in with the truth. Look it's simply. Some people just suck. They have personality problems. Red pill can help abuser's feel confident in being abusive. It's so vary sad. What these guys could do is actually have normal friends of both genders, that can help them think normal. But some people just can't be helped.

Principal: the man can be the leader in certain areas of the relationship. This can take some of the burdon of decision making of the women. Like dates. Also the man is fair, in his dicitions and takes into consideration what's best for both of them. He also listens to her and knows what's she likes. The women trust the man to do things she likes without her having to take charge. He discussed the plan, so she can put in some input if she wants. Compromises. She is the leader of other things, as agreed.

Research: Emotional labor.

Corrupted: the guy makes all the dicitions and the women just has to accept it, even if she doesn't like it.

Red pill is indeed a very good mindset to adopt. Don’t confuse Incels with red pillers. Red pill coaches do indeed encourage men to be their best selves. There’s really no other way to maximize success with women since women are hypergamous by nature through evolution as a survival mechanism. They only choose mates better than themselves in terms of looks and or success. Men all have varying degrees of looks, fitness, and success. If a man is ugly, short, in bad shape, and broke he’s not going to attract even the worst of women, he’s going to be an Incel. Incel basically means the guy isn’t having sex and it’s not his choice. If you’re short like me you have to have a strong fit body and make bank like I’ve done(thus was married many years to a taller woman and had two good kids). If you’re out of shape you need to invest time to improve fitness and properly nourish yourself and avoid overdrinking and drugs. If you’re broke you need to avoid dating and focus on financial stability. Red pill isn’t a simple formula or shortcut to succes since none exists. Life isn’t fair or easy. If you’re fat and lazy you get bad outcomes. If you’re the best you can be you will at least do ok. I could never have success with women like the six foot chads but I have had some success stories.
