Anything beyond a comment in the style of "yeah, I'd really like to get electrolysis so there's never any stubble or ingrowns but it costs a lot" (followed with immediate agreement to whatever he says, even if it's completely dismissive of the idea of electrolysis or whatever treatment) is tactless, and even that can be done badly if your body language gives away the expectation you're harboring.

Work more hours if you want more fun money right now. If you doubt you can manage that, go check how many hours your phone has logged on TikTok and social media this week.

Cut out all the synthetics from your food and beauty products. I always pay for my own glow up stuff. Hubby pays for pretty much everything else. I don’t want him knowing the specifics of my treatments tbh lol.

These are a little more inexpensive ways to feel more beautiful. And if he notices a change in his attraction for you, and he feels you have done these basic things, then he may feel more open to spending a little on treatments in the future!

While the others are a little harsh, I do agree that this falls under wife privileges. However do say you wish for it: ‘ah in the future I really want to get a chemical peeling’. This invites him to surprise you if he chooses too!

As someone that is very much into self improvement including the glow up this is not something you concern with a man that is not your husband. This should be something that you fund for now and depending on the extremes you can do most of it at home.

I don't see any harm in making a list of things you want and sharing it when special occasions arise. I'd say that there's things you really really want for Christmas that you can't afford. I know my man considers it a win when I can just tell him specifics on what to get me as a gift.

I would keep researching skincare and such until you have the cheapest way to get what you want. I've heard Vitamin C serum, retinol cream, and sunscreen are really all you need from r/skincareaddiction, for example. A nose job can be swapped for a contouring kit.

I agree this kind of thing is very hard to entice a man to pay for unless he agrees you should get the work done or he is your spouse.

I don’t think there is a good way to tell a man that your sex life is going to be better if he pays for expensive skincare. That implies that your sexual relationship isn’t great to start with.

Your sex life should be good because you are in love with each other/ are strongly attracted to each other, not because of what he can buy for you.

I only started ‘asking’ for it when our son was closer to a year old because we’ve been married for nearly 2 years, have a house, and I’m a SAHM. I never would have asked the 5 years prior when we were just dating even living together when I had a job. I don’t even really have to ask for it, I more so ask him to watch the baby so I can get my hair, nails, massage, facial etc done once every other month which is well within our budget and my husband is more than happy to take the little guy out to lunch and the park while I get my self care done. It makes me put more effort into my appearance every day too which makes both me and my husband and son happy when I’m feeling my best! This is ‘wife privilege’ though that he gets in exchange for the husband privilege of me taking care of our family and home and came explicitly within the benefits of marriage.

If you have a milestone anniversary coming up, a birthday, a promotion at work, a big party, etc… it is OK in my opinion to ask him to pay for something relatively small like a manicure, and asking him to book it for you. Or to point out nice perfume or skincare that you might like as a birthday/Christmas/valentines/anniversary present. Or, you could suggest that you two could do a spa day together and get massages and facial treatments!

But to just come out of the blue and ask for money to pamper yourself can come across as a bit gauche. A bit of “sugar baby” behavior. Which is OK once in a while, especially if you have a “spoiled princess” type of dating vibe… but too much and you’ll push most guys away.

The way we split it (my common law partner earns and I am in school and we have a financial agreement) is that I put things I need on his CC (like skincare I use regularly, hair trims, makeup staples, dermatologist appointments (benefits reimburse)) and I try to pay for wants myself (lip filler, botox, tattoos, hair bleach/dye jobs, makeup I wouldn't use daily) but at the same time he understands that some of these things genuinely do make me feel better about myself (which then helps our sex life) and aren't just a vanity things (though there is nothing wrong with that and I understand part of my value lies in being attractive) and he has sometimes offered to pay for some of them and when we are married I will take him up on it because if he wants a physically attractive wife then it comes at a cost.

Full text: Now, my partner does act like a provider and is raising funds for me to help me move to him. We've talked about relationship expectations and he did say he wanted to provide all the expenses and potentially my college too if I needed it.

However, most of our talks about money revolve around how he's saving up right now and what he plans to do in the future. I wish he was helping me with money right now.
