How do you guys know that someone is verbally attacking you?

I (30+) have been working in Germany for a few years in a topic I enjoy a lot. In the present year, a new colleague (20+F) joined my group and from the beginning I realized that she was smart and funny, and that we had many things in common. We built a friendship to the point that we started hanging out outside work with activities, such as going to the movies or walk in the downtown. I clarify that to this day, I don't have a romantic interest with said lady. One of past days I said something wrong, or made a mistake--I don't remember, and this woman called me "estúpido" in the workplace and in front of other peers. I guess she said that because I speak Spanish, and because she felt already too confident around me, but I was a bit shocked since I didn't expect her to say such a thing. It actually hurt me and felt disappointed, but I let it pass, so I didn't end up making a scene. Additionally, this incident happened maybe once more.

Anyways, time passed and we continued doing different activities. Recently, at work, I compliment her nice jacket, which matches the color of the garbage men in this town--I didn't indicate the similarity, she did. However, out of nowhere she told me that I'm "garbage" and pointed out to actual garbage on the floor saying "it's you". I again let it pass but I got so angry that I limited my communication with her for some days and I think she noticed, as she send me a message asking "you okay?" To which I answered with a simple "yes".

I'm still waiting for an apology, but nothing after a few days. I don't understand why this is okay and why it's been normalized for society/women to insult men, expecting no consequences. I know some of you had it worse, but have you experienced something similar? Would you allow this behavior?

I also want to clarify that I don't expect to get psychological help from this group. I'm just pointing out at something I have observed and I don't think is fair.
