Confident body language may be more important to attractiveness than anything else, but it's easier to feel like the shit if you don't look like shit.

This, and a thousand times this.

You don't need to look good, but it definitely helps. It changes your self image in a positive way. If your self image doesn't match what you look like, you are gonna have a bad time.

Apart from the two girls that approached you, the reactions people gave to you, were based almost completely on your confidence. You were more confident with the second outfit, so you held eye contact better and acted like you were the shit, that's what people reacted to.

If you go out wearing the smart-casual cool outfit and don't approach, guess what? You'll have maybe one or two girls approaching you but as you are stuck up in your head from not approaching all night and just hanging out acting cool, these girls will blow out in a second.

On the other side, if you go out with normal guy clothes, or even dressed as a slob, fucking approach and make an effort to better your game, you'll have a much better chance of succeeding.

Seriously, stop caring so much about things that don't even matter that much before even starting to make an effort to improve your social skills.

Totally agree with your theory, I made the switch from skater look (shaggy hair, loose jeans, skate brand graphic shirt) to alternative/hipster/rocker style (skinny jeans, slim fit, layering) and I have noticed a huge difference in the reactions and looks i get.

This, in essence, is very true. I think for very different reasons however. Dressing nice physically makes you appealing but since 67% of communication is non-verbal body, it does something far more effective; it resonates responsibility, control, intelligence, coordination, creativity and I think above all else that you have money and ladies love money -_-

TL;DR: Dressing nice subconsciously conveys societal superiority.

I think its less about dressing nicely or well and more about having a distinct style and acting confidently..

I have a disheveled hobo-chic that is far from 'nice' but works great for me. I have my crazy chest hair mane poking out, around all these deep-v waxed LA guys, and mixing this with my insane confidence just seems to intrigue people.

Did one show off your body and one not? In my (soon to return) skinnier days where there was mainly muscle not excess flab and muscle I noticed that seeing a more clear outline of your body was important while hiding the flab is more important if you have a bit of extra weight baggy clothing will do neither.

I stopped wearing almost every top I had that wasnt basically skin tight, added a bunch of stuff like wide necked henley shirts to show off my chest and shoulders (becausethey looked good and women imo are as inherently superficial as men).

It made a lot of difference to people's reactions even when I was slobbing about. I think shirts are fine but actually pretty bad for discretely going look at my body.

Also just on a personal level I'd see this outfit as a little too MFA/middle class marks and spencer shopping dad-ish.

Having rebuilt my entire wardrobe over the past year, with gradually and ever increasing quality and fashion taste, I can attest to this. I used to wear blue jeans and beer shirts (craft beer, but beer nonetheless) exclusively, and I'm much better received by the public at large now that I dress well.

Gentlemen, think of how much better you're bound to treat an attractive, well dressed woman than you are a woman who looks messy. We live in a shallow society indeed.

Absolutely. Look presentable. T-shirts, cargo shorts, and goofy looking shoes are not attractive. Period.

When I'm at my apartment about to go out for the night or on a date, I absolutely WILL NOT leave until I can look in the mirror and not only say, but BELIEVE that I look dead sexy. And looking dead sexy involves dressing well. When you dress well, you will be more confident because you know you look better to women.

It's all subconscious. If I see a hottie at a bar talking to a dude dressed like a total doofus, I perceive hardly any threat whatsoever. Women make themselves look good before going out. We should too.

Wore a suit at strip club once. Damn. I was broke but still hounded. Granted they were looking for money, suits display value and wealth. Those can never hurt you. Some may disagree but a man in a good looking suit can definitely turn some heads.

Dude, eye contact from strangers is meaningless. If you want to illustrate your point, you gotta come up with something better than that.

In bars/clubs countless times, I've had girls eye me, I go up to them, and nothing happens. Then I go up to some girl who evidently never noticed me, and wind up taking her home. So don't consider it much of a barometer. I used to, but I do no longer.
