Last night was my birthday so I went out with my friends to a college party. I went in with zero expectations other than to make sure I had a good time. It was a typical house party with shitty music, shittier beer, etc... but I had a great time nonetheless. I was a little drunk by the time I got there, and while I was waiting for the keg I noticed one of my friends talking to a group of people, focusing his attention on a particular girl (HB 9). I go over and eventually its me and my two friends talking to this group of people, and they throw into the group that its my birthday and the girl makes a comment about it and we start talking.

We're talking and flirting for a good 45 minutes, sharing what alcohol we brought with each other instead of drinking the beer. We continued talking until we decided to move to the next room over. As we were moving we realized the party was way overcrowded and we ended up being pressed against each other for a good 10 minutes, all the while we're joking around saying how this would be awkward if we didn't know each other etc... We break free of the crowd and decide to follow my friends downstairs to the music.

We fought past another crowd on the steps and get to a clearing in the basement, and as soon as we break free she pulls me against her on the wall and we start hooking up hard. It couldn't have even been 10 minutes before I suggested leaving the party to come to my apartment. She was all for it and we start heading upstairs, and as we reach the top of the steps one of her friends (a male) sees her with me and stops her and starts questioning her. I got a little annoyed because I knew what he was up to, and I tried to get her attention but he kept barraging her. After maybe 2 minutes of this she comes to me, kisses me on the neck and says happy birthday and walks away.

This is where things went wrong. I was so angry at the whole situation (it's been over 2 years since I've been with a girl) and at the kid who cockblocked me that I screamed at him "What the fuck" and shoved him into a wall. We got into a fight and it was a cluster fuck of people trying to pull me off of him. After the ordeal was over the girl came back into the room after hearing what happened and helped the kid find his glasses. She then came over to me angrily (rightfully so) and asked what happened. I lied and said he shoved me first and she (seemingly) believed me, and we chatted for a few more minutes before she finally walked away. A few guys who witnessed the whole thing listened to my story (exactly as described above) and were supportive of me and they said they had my back. While I was talking to them I noticed the friend walking out the door. I didn't see HB9 with him, but I didn't see her the rest of the night so I assume she left the party either with him or shortly after him.

Anyway, reflecting on the incident made me realize just how much of an AFC I became. Instead of accepting the douchebaggery of this jealous tool and moved on, possibly to continue at least talking to the girl and get her phone number, I decided to take out my frustration with him and ruined all chances of anything further happening. I have no way of contacting her to apologize for what happened or to ever meet up for a date or anything.

Moral of the story: AFCs don't win. If you get frustrated by a situation, it looks better on you to deal with it as peacefully as possible and accept it for what it is. Better things will always happen this way.
