I go to my bank. The clerks there are notaries and will sign things free for customers.

You can try an on line notary. I pay $25 for single document on line.

In my state, they can charge up to $10 per notarization. My seperation agreement had 3 spots for us both to sign, so it ended up being $60 for me to get it notarized.

Banks will often do it for free.

My UPS Store guys notarize for like $5 per notarization. The girl at the nearby bank does it for free.

That said: I think they're underpaid for doing work that puts themselves at potential legal liability. And the certification for which they had to jump through at least some low-to-the-ground hoops, and pay some money. But, it's always been a highly commoditized qualification.

It may seem exorbitant, but, trust me. 100 bucks to finish a thing in this process? Pay and move on. It's not even a noticeable expense.

It may hurt now, but just pay it. Be done.
