Regardless of your sex or orientation, I think most of us can agree that dating in today's age is an ego-destroying shitshow, so in the interest of making people feel good, let's give each other a dose of positivity.

Here's the idea: We all list things we're attracted to, or things we value in our partners, without using negative language or focusing on things that would disqualify someone from dating us. We say what we like, we don't say what we don't like. The idea here, is to allow people who might be feeling a little insecure to find positive traits in themselves that other people value, that they themselves might not have realized they possess.

I'll go first, starting with the shallow stuff:

Looks - Yeah, looks matter. That said, I don't need to date a supermodel to be happy, I just need to be sexually attracted to her. I prefer girls who have slimmer builds, and who are maybe a bit more on the petite side but by no means is that specific body type a hard requirement for me. I also appreciate small boobies, charmingly awkward features, mild androgyny, and an unconventional fashion sense.

And now the less shallow stuff:

Kindness, thoughtfulness, consideration - I lump these together because there's a lot of overlap. In general, I like girls who consider the needs and feelings of others, in addition to their own. She doesn't necessarily need to be a doormat, but there are some who can swing too far in the opposite direction. Even if she makes mistakes sometimes, and hurts others by accident, even caring about the people she hurt, and the fact she hurt them, is big.

Emotional regulation - This is actually a skill, and while it's usually quite easy to spot when someone hasn't spent enough time developing it, people who have mastered this skill don't get enough recognition in my opinion. Just being able to stop, calm yourself down, and think something through before you act is huge. This is probably one of the most important things I look for in a partner.

Introspection - The ability to look at yourself, understand your own flaws, know when you are wrong, and when you aren't.

Honesty - Not to be mistaken for "brutal honesty." Not much else to say here. I don't appreciate being deceived, but it's okay to approach issues gently and with a bit of tact as well.

Weirdness - Maybe they're awkward, maybe it's daddy issues, maybe they're foreign, or goth, maybe they've got odd hobbies, funny mannerisms or undiagnosed autism. Whatever it is, they just don't quite fit into the "basic bitch" mold. This one's a bit nebulous, but there are girls out there who are just weird, in ways I can't quite put my finger on, and for me at least, that shit is like sexy catnip.

Sexuality - I have a high-ish libido, and prefer partners who are similar. I like my ladies a little more on the kinky side too, though that's not mandatory. What is important, though, is feeling like I'm actually wanted in a physical, sexual, way. It's not enough for a low libido lady to just crank out a reluctant handjob now and then, she needs to be sincerely into what she's doing.

Exclusivity - I'm not the type of guy who cares much about a lady's body count, but in the case of long term relationships, I do care about being the only guy she's seeing at the time. Some might call this obvious, but it's absolutely not a given, and shouldn't be taken for granted. Those who have the discipline to stay monogamous in a relationship, especially if they have other options, should be appreciated for it.

I could probably go on, but those are just the things the popped into my head first. Since we're trying to be positive, for the ladies or gay gents out there reading what I like, don't feel bad if some of these things don't apply to you (I'm just some random internet weirdo who's never going to meet you in real life anyway so my opinion doesn't matter.) I hope, if other people contribute to the discussion, we'll also see some diversity in what sort of things we all value and how there are other people out there who will appreciate things about you that I don't necessarily care for, but I digress...

Okay, it's your turn now. Go!
