The judge can’t do that. Appeal with a good attorney. Don’t pay a dime until you do. If you really do have issue get a vocational assessment done on yourself as well. The court CAN NOT put you into bankruptcy because you’re unable to pay. That judge will easily be reprimanded if so. Been there. Done that.

This is the saddest part about any divorces. Husbands/fathers/providers or men in general had to endure it all…and mostly-ALONE. All said, it’s basically u paid to have a wife. And. Kids, if there’s any. I am in similar position- not quite divorced yet. Broke and struggling AF…..all my assets are frozen….locked….. to the point, I am resorting to food banks to survive unless I gave in to her and her lawyer’s demands- over half a mil in cash. So I feel you. I really do. It sucks sometimes to be a man.

When is this granted ? Is it Immediately after filing for divorce or did ex file a separate request for temporary support ?

If you're late on child support, that alone will ruin your credit. Alimony can, too, depending on some factors.

As other comments indicate, bankruptcy won't do anything about debts from Family Court.

If your credit score is indeed so excellent now, I'd consider borrowing $100,000 somewhere, renew your passport now (so it's good for 10 more years), leave the country and move somewhere cheap that offers resident visas for "investors" (so you can stay forever).

I think you need to get some therapy and figure out a way to get back to work and pay the bills.

I realize a divorce is traumatic, believe me but that isn’t a card you can play to just mail it in. That trick has been tried too many times and the judge is calling BS on you. Whether or not it’s true I have no clue, but guys have tried this many times and it doesn’t work anymore.

The Judge probably doesn't believe that you "can't" work. I'd suggest you see a Clinical Psychologist and pay for a full-scale psychological evaluation. If you get a diagnosis and recommendations I highly doubt the Judge will go against a Doctor's orders.

I’m not sure if you filed bankruptcy it would help. Support payments are usually still owed when filing for bankruptcy.

If the even after your lawyer presenting the facts of your case the judge continues on this track…APPEAL IT; yes it would be more money but most likely worth it as if the facts you are presenting are on point, it would most likely get overturned.
