Speed dating was the best thing ever, for my ego. 15 men, 15 women: 5 mins each time. Got a report later that I had 15 ‘yes’, and 2 matches. But I went to the speeddating with my best friend: 5 hours after meeting my husband (for the first time). So it never came to fruition.

On a psychological level a man going to speed dating events signals to women that he is desperate and thirsty because if he was truly desirable he wouldn’t need to be at an event looking for women at all. That same psychology applies to dating apps.

Why do men expect women to want men who don’t have desirable traits? It might be better for men to accept anything they can get just to get laid but for women there is a threshold where staying single is far superior to giving away the goods to a loser.

A good speed dating event would make sure there’s about equal men and women, so that’s part of the problem. I’ve never been to a speed dating event, but I’d imagine there’s a bunch of variations in setups. Like some of them would be formatted in a way that discourages people from talking to their same-gendered friends during the event. Your post would be more interesting to discuss if you have more details on the specific format.

Most men are getting laid. Most men are not fedora wearing Redditors. You really believe people only go to these events because they’re desperate? I got a lot of singles events. Just not speed dating. You have a whole lot of people from all different walks of life, attractiveness levels, etc.

I think its more about increasing chances by putting yourself out there in as many places as possible tbh.
