They'll do it in a backhanded kind of way and it won't work. As an example off of the top of my head:

New main character will be a traditional masculine man, but by episode 3 he'll have a plucky new side kick who will inevitably be a young girl who will inevitably show him that masculinity is not always the solution to things. And that sometimes you need to let the women lead.

Then by the season finale the MC will give something symbolic to the sidekick forfeiting his ideology in exchange for hers.

My take is they’ve been hit in the pocket book hard enough that they can no longer ignore losing much of their male audience.

The articles I read however said Disney thinks they overplayed action hero’s, but that’s not the problem in my opinion. Consider the flop of “the Marvels” with Brie Larson. The problem isn’t that she was a super hero, the problem is she had poor acting reviews and repeatedly showed herself to be a misandrist, but Disney cast her again anyways. Of course it flopped.

Men are tiring of the anti-male bias in media. Simply changing the genre won’t win men back if the misandry isn’t addressed.

Let me know when disney puts out something that has men and/or boys as the target demographic. Because it's 2026, and at this point, it should be common knowledge that when you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one. But these clowns dont want to admit it. A guy can't criticize feminism. Otherwise, he hates all women. They'd rather lose billions than admit they messed up and that the majority of people hate this self righteous feminist bullshit. One box office disaster after another, and these chuds still holding on strong to thier identity politics.

I think the main problem is that Disney bought these male skewing brands and changed them in order to get more female fans, which didn’t work and alienated the audience that already liked these properties.

I agree that Disney isn’t going to win back young men and boys, and other studios will be able to succeed with male positive content.

Too late, When an entertainment company shifts their focus from their sole purpose to propaganda, they already lost the game.

They fucked up Star Wars with "Girl power", Not that women shouldn't be main protagonists in shows geared towards men, I love Arcane, but we all know how disney fucked up.

Focus towards DreamWorks lads, Puss in Boots: Last wish(2022) felt like a promise towards solid content back then.

They need to be driven out of business purely as an act of retaliation.

At the very least they should be driven into a situation where they have to sell off their "boy" IPs and are forced to retreat to focusing on their real core audience - young children and young women.

In theory they could make good entertainment for teenage males but they simply refuse to do so out of spite. They don't want to provide entertainment for them.

They can't. They don't have the ability.

Disney executives did not tell their writers and directors to alienate men and boys. The creatives did it on their own, because they wanted to and lived in a culture where that was a morally good thing to do.

They cannot turn that off. It is not a plan they can abandon. It's not something they can go "my bad" about. They believe that the only way to be a morally virtuous human being is to hate men and take art away from men, and they cannot possibly be swayed from this. Hollywood writers only ever talk to other Hollywood writers, and all if them believe this.

No matter what corporate leadership wants, they literally don't have the capacity to carry this out. They don't have a supply of creatives who don't despise men. They don't have an infrastructure for talent and production that is capable of going "Hey, we should keep an eye out to see these people don't despise men."

A series that doubles down on musical performances that pedestalize princess fantasies... Caring about men?

Maybe Pixar, maybe Marvel, maybe Star Wars, but Disney as a whole? That's what Disney has been ever sense they left stuff like goofy and duck tales, darkwing duck and all that behind.

Disney animation is pretty good, stuff like 9th grade ninja big hero 6 and stuff like that. But if they're trying to associate the Disney people associate with the word Disney as caring about men... I don't see it.

The Peter Pan, Jumanji, Notre Dame, Pinochio, Aladdin's are all gone and even things that have been remade to display women instead of dogs like Cruella over 101 Dalmatians. While that series isn't what I would call bad, the issue is focus, even Maleficent. Is about women.

I genuinely don't know how they're going to do that unless they go crazy on live action shows like Even Stevens again. Nick and Disney were pretty good at those, though Nick was much more consistent.

Disney had their share of things that were successful with boys in stuff like the disney afternoon.

If you want to cater to the boy audience, then the classical way to do it is stories about boys having adventures together. That is what many cartoonnseries did and that was the formula for books for boys. And that is how many popular anime series work.

The ducktales reboot kinda shows why they likely will not. The original ducktales added Webby as the girl character. …many people did not really like her. Disney’s answer was then to elevate her at the expense of the nephews. …instead of going back to the comics were Donald, Scrooge and the boys just go on adventures together.^{^;}

I think they are just too stuck in the mindset that you cannot have male focused media.

I think that a character's chromosomes and melanin level have very little to do with whether I enjoy the story they're in. I think that the Galbrush Paradox is a very real phenomenon, but you can write compelling female characters, either against or despite social norms, but it IS more challenging.

I think that Disney's quiet tolerance of Kathleen Kennedy's open declaration of support for gender-based genocide is a much, much bigger issue. Learning about that, and seeing the utter lack of response, especially from a company like Disney, killed my support of them dead.

It'd take a hell of a lot more than a few good movies to change that.

I'm sure there is some amount of personal politics from the people making those decisions involved by Disney has always been very money hungry. At the end of the day all companies are apolitical and amoral, they only survive by making money.

Let’s start with getting Star Wars back to the Revenge of the Sith levels. Let’s show men being heroes or better yet have men saving people that also include women. Bring back the masculinity. No more beta males. I don’t think it is too late for Disney. Star Wars can save them if done right!!
