I’m 28 and lately I’ve been working a lot on improving myself. I’ve lost quite a bit of weight, I’m in good shape again, and I’ve been paying more attention to how I dress.

But there’s something I’m struggling with: I’m honestly scared of women.

At the gym, I notice that lot’s of women look at me. I know that might sound like a “good problem” to have, but it actually makes me really uncomfortable. I don’t know how to react and I kind of freeze up in my head and do something awkward.

I’ve never been in a relationship, and almost all of my interactions with women have been while I was under the influence of alcohol or other substances. When I’m sober, I feel like I completely shut down.

If I’m in a space with a lot of women, or if someone looks at me, I get tense and just want to get out of the situation.

Does anyone have practical advice on how to deal with this?
