It's negging but as a side note he just seems like the kind of dude who spews the stupidest shit ("jokes") out of his mouth possible, then if you say anything "mean" because his awful barrage of jokes fall flat he's like OMG I WAS KIDDING WTFFF since he expects you to cater to his babydick ego that rides on whether he's funny or not.
