Post is rather cut and dry: the solution really is to leave for someone else who has the time for me.

But I guess I feel too emotionally invested to walk away. He has not walked away and still wants to continue to talk to me (as friends) until he finishes law school. He says that he likes me a lot but he does not have the time or energy to put into me that I need to try to attempt a relationship. He is in his last year of law school and needs to be ready to pass the bar, he says that having me on his mind and missing me has been emotionally draining and distracting from what he needs to get done. I understand that because I’ve felt the same (I’m in school for a bio degree). However I guess I don’t have as much pressure as he does that I’m willing to forgo the additional pain and struggle in daily life to pursue a relationship. It doesn’t help also that we’re long distance. He said that he would like to make this work but after he is finished with law school (in the summer) if we both still have feeling for each other by then. I feel a special connection and he’s like no one I’ve ever met. This is really all devastating to me because I felt like I met ‘the one’ potentially only for it to be taken away because of circumstances outside of my control. He asked me please not to wait up and forgo opportunities in my city because I’m waiting on us because he wants me to be happy. Also that if I needed to cut him off and see someone else who was emotionally and romantically available that it would hurt but he would understand because it would be selfish for him to ask me to wait for him. I want to wait for him. Am I just shooting myself in the chest with all this?
