How come this double standard exists? You know its true.

RELEVANT COMMENTS:

It's not insecurity, we're taught by basically everything and everyone that an "ideal couple" has strong sexual dimorphism. Combine that with the fact that women are supposed to be as small/thin as possible, and you get the "I want a guy who makes me feel tiny!" response.

No, we have a preference. I like guys to be taller and bigger in general than I am because it's sexy as fuck to me. I can't explain why, just like I can't explain most of my preferences. I just like it.

I'm 5'3". It would be kind of out of the ordinary for a guy to be not taller than me. I don't really like that, so I like him to be taller than me.

EXHIBIT B: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskWomen/comments/27bioq/do_you_think_short_guys_on_reddit_complain_too/

RELEVANT COMMENTS:

They're being super dramatic, yes. I mean, I've heard women express preferences for tall men, but at the same time, I've heard dudes express preferences for short women (one dude in particular was 6'3 and said that he wouldn't date a woman over 5'3). Also NONE of the short guys I know IRL have problems getting laid whatsoever. One of the biggest womanizers I know is 5'6. The other is 5'9 (not terribly short imo but it's shorter than average and I've seen guys of this height on Reddit complain about no one finding them attractive because they're supposedly short). Also it's fucked up that I'm not welcome on /r/short because I'm a woman. Fuck. SHORT WOMEN HAVE PROBLEMS TOO

I never had a problem with a guy's height, that is until my shorter boyfriend started having a problem with the fact that I was taller than him. Now I've got a "never again" policy, I will honestly never have another serious relationship with someone shorter than me, for their sake not mine. TL;DR "confidence is key, Cohen."

I think they're being excessively dramatic about their height. Do I prefer a taller man, all else equal? Yes. Will I reject a man just because he's short? No. Will I reject a short man who's insecure about being short? Abso-fucking-lutely. I think that their insecurity is self-defeating. Women reject them because they're insecure and/or overcompensate for their height, but they mis-attribute the rejection to their height, which makes them more insecure. Good grief; just be yourself.

If a woman cares about height, she's in the right. If a man cares, he's in the wrong. This is why TRP needs to exist. Double standards like these that pedestalize women and shut down men.
