I saw the thing about women on Twitter using the words slut and bitch more, but it isn't necessarily them calling each other names. It could be something like #yassbitch or #stopslutshaming.

In real life 99% of all slut shaming I witness comes from men.

Also, women do wag fingers at women who slut shame. Even Taylor Swift's brand of feminism discusses how women often put other women down and why it's important for women to support other women (preferably in the form of Taylor Swift's Girl Squad ^tm ). Maybe you just don't hear about this side of feminism because you don't pay attention to anything that do not directly pertain to you.

It's still a case of misogyny when women do it. Women can be misogynistic, too. I will and have called out women who slut shame -- you're right, ime women do it explicitly and men do it implicitly, so it can seem like women 'slut shame' more than men -- and will continue to do so.

It's harmful, competitive bullshit that undermines women's ability to connect to each other properly by unnecessarily pitting us against each other. Sex (most things, really) is hardly ever a zero-sum game and not enough people get this. Even when it is a zero-sum game, you should probably resist thinking of it this way because you're bound to drive yourself insane.

Most feminist thinking that I've seen critiques women's urge to slut shame as well as men's. I'm not sure the premise of this post is accurate.

There IS such a thing as a MAN-SLUT! They aren't 'cool' like "Studs" because they pretty much take anything that comes their way! A STUD also is a prized example of a male, with good traits and genetics that makes him a prized person for women to want to mate with. I was called a "Stud" or "Studly" many times in my youth for reasons that have nothing to do with the number of women I had sex with! Funny enough, if a "Stud" cashes in on his status by using it to sleep with many women, his desirability does tend to decline! So, Studs vs. Sluts... its really kinda fair! Also, isn't really a compliment to women to suggest that they have higher standards than men, since all a slut has to to is show up and spread her legs and men will line up? Misogyny MY ASS!

It's all bad, whether done by women or men.

Slut-shaming can be at its worst when carried out by men because they are in the position to do the most damage.

by taking photos and videos of the victim during sex or rape and distributing them.
By a gang of men who've raped a girl desperately trying to cover up their crime by spreading "slut" rumors about the girl.

Anyone calling a girl a slut is part of rape culture and has a hand in both rape and the suicides of rape victims. Young girls committing suicide after being raped and then bullied by accusations of "slut":

Contrast the stories above with this story of a boy who was raped on a school sports trip. Because it was hazing, no one is going to call him a slut. What happened to this boy was vile and traumatising and painful, but no one thinks of him as "asking for it". The girls in the above stories are easy targets just because they're girls.
