I would have to say both yes and no.

The modern day, third wave, tumblr feminism, in my opinion, is t victimizing women, or more precisely telling women that they are always victims. They're teaching women to see everything that happens to them as some sort of "oppression" by the evil patriarchy regardless of evidence, context, or anything to the contrary. I think that this ideology is particularly harmful as more often we're seeing feminists preach their beliefs at formidable children who then will grow up with this victim complex, fact rejecting, Orwellian ideology.

On the other hand, obviously, feminism has helped to make great strides for women in the past, and non-crazy feminist(such as Christina Hoff-Summers) continue to actually help women. There are great human rights activists who identify as feminists that are continuing to help liberate women in 3rd world countries.

So really, the feminism that we hear about most of the time on social media, the news, or other outlets, is a harmful ideology that is hurting women more than it is helping, while the feminists that are actually doing GOOD get swept under the rug because they're not as hypnotizing

Feminism deserves part of the blame. The other half belongs to Traditionalism. Feminism empowers women to be independent and live a crazy, fun lifestyle. Traditionalism coddles them from responsibility. Neither side favors men.

These are the two major ideologies present in our culture when it comes to gender relations.

Modern day feminism seems like a much lazier version of feminism to me. Its more likely a cause of social media than feminism itself though

It is also somewhat deceptive as it claims its against all double standards but creates many of its own.

Is it harmful to women though? Maybe. I think its more harmful to men who buy into it though. For a man to be a feminist and still be successful he had to be successful way before he became a feminist, as feminism will provide nothing for him personally.

There are women who would otherwise have grown up normally and found happiness in marriage and family that have been denied that because they were led to believe that they could have their cake and eat it too. Pursue a career! Sleep with all the bad boys! You go girl, nothing is impossible!

Except conceiving a child after a certain age. And finding a worthwhile man to do it with because you're no longer attractive. But hey, at least you felt empowered throughout your 20's, right?

Of course not. Sexism is harmful, and feminism is the movement to end sexism.

Many of the posters here have a distorted view because they learned about feminism from reactionary Internet blogs instead of from books or other good sources. Check out bell hooks, she has a great (short) intro text.

Yes, the victim hood narrative is toxic and is holding women back, part of the problem is the derth of male white knights and nice while women are younger, but feminism calling any who is male and criticizes broadly speaking negative female behavior misogynist. feminism great fall on theory level in academia is how negative female traits affect men. they looked at how negative female trait affect women but not men.

Since feminism ignores genetical differences between sexes and tells us they are all product of environment then in it's basic idea feminism is wrong, it's just ideology where people build "theories" from nothing and then go and abuse phrase "for equality" to gain power for their gender.

The only thing harmful for women that comes from feminism is the confusion about who women really are and what they want. Otherwise it's done really great job of over-empowering them

But for men it's great, you are free of your shackles of traditionalism and expected behaviour and you can fuck as many wh*res as you want while simultaneously look for that good girl you want to marry (if you are into that stuff) and not feel bad about it, just be careful not to LTR slut

Feminism is anti-sexism/anti-sexual. But since humans are the product of sexual unions between non-symmetrical (sexist) genders, that means that feminism is anti-human, as it seeks to destroy our only method of reproduction by eliminating the concept of gender.
