Another pattern is something along these lines:

1.) Stable relationship, all seems well.

2.) Everything is a little too good, girl gets bored.

3.) Girl sees an opening with what she considers a better immediate deal.

4.) Girl swings over to the new guy.

5.) New relationship goes to hell fast.

6.) Girl tests the water with former boyfriend to attempt to swing back.

The weird thing is that I've seen a few girls that had solid relationships swing to a lowlife. I'm thinking of one girl I know who was with a guy who was an electrician. He wasn't poor, but she never failed to complain about financial issues with the guy. She cheated on him and swung to a guy that has never held a job in the seven years they've been together. The kicker is that she works to support this guy.

My ex wife started behind the back shit like this. It was with a female friend. The conversations became frequent just as the visits and "time to herself". Then came down to the "Spending the week with the girlfriend".

It's one of the patterns, but it only plays out that way if she is acting suspicious to begin with -- many women are better at cheating than that, to be frank. They are almost all better at hiding cheating than men are, which makes sense, if you think about it in evolutionary terms.

In any case, if your girl starts talking about needing her space and freedom and so on, you hard next. It really is just that simple. I'll talk about my own situation.

My Ex was the perfect example of a Girl that was into me from the beginning, she was my plate for a whole year before I settled with her. Our relationship was awesome and solid until the second year hit, after that, 2 1/2 years in it begun:

She was studying again after saving some money were she worked. First flag: She started to wear makeup to school on some specific days, I told her "babe if you want to have sex with me you don't need to wear makeup, I'm right here" she wore it off by saying that she likes to look in general. Her mother cheated on her father so I thought she would be considerate and gave her a free pass on this behavior.
She joined the gym to help her with a specific job that requires physical fitness (this is true).
She found a new group of female friends to hang out with and even went to have dinner with one of her girlfriends and told me afterwards "I really needed this, we are always together, going out with a friend of mine does me good" (she did go out only with her girl friend).
Bullshit talk came up "I know I like you but nobody can say for certain that we will end up together".
She started to tell me that she was tiered after the gym and that I shouldn't come over because she has to wake up early for school (it was never a problem). Here she already had more contact with the other dude and was creating distance.
She started to actively not answer the phone and promote more distance between us (she didn't cheat for now).
She went to a family member of mine telling her that our relationship was very distant and that she was afraid that I was cheating on her (by now she had slept with the other guy).
A day later I was advised by my family member to seek her out and talk to her because she was very sad with our situation. I met up with her and we talked but as things were, she agreed with everything I said but wasn't offering a solution to our problem, creating even more distance between us.
That night I found out what was going on by my own means, hard evidence was put in front of her and she denied everything for a whole month.
I gave her a second chance (this is the period you would see as she evaluating me and the new dude).
She still kept contact with the new dude, I went apeshit and broke up with her a month ago. No contact, nothing.
She tried to have coffee with a family member of mine 2 weeks ago. <- This needs some analysis: No shame in trying to get coffee with a person that knows what happened further more, it seems like an attempt to ease her perception in others (would like some input from you guys).

Conclusion: They create distance, try to blame it on you and work their way out of harms way by trying to hide and convey that they did nothing wrong.
