If you ever want to LAUGH, watch two inexperienced bi femmes (ok kinky mostly straight girls) try to flirt with each other and make plans, like not just send each other memes and compliments but make plans for a date. Like not all of them, some are super assertive hoes, but there are plenty of women who find themselves in a less vague pursuit framework and instantly become these completely ineffectual dumbasses who can barely form basic greetings much less actually follow through on a date.

The answer is that some women are assertive and proactive and find what they want, but most women are so used to the security of romantic passivity that they’re pretty confused when they have to do anything.

The little hamster brain reaction these facts is “hur dur women so silly couldn’t be men for a day and get rejected.” This is a silly comparison that doesn’t honor all the social places women exceed men.

The BIG galaxy brain take should be “i need to get much better at approaching women in ways they find exciting but not repulsive and then not fucking worry about the small stuff bc that is what neurotic girls who don’t know actually know what they want do.”

Think of men as stores which sell wanted but unnecessary stuff like sweets or alcohol and women as their clients/buyers. Obvious who's to choose and who's to chase and who needs whom (spoiler: the client is the chooser).

Women choose the men. In general women are very good judges of character. It wasn't until the invention and availability of birth control could allow women to play the field without the ramification of unwanted pregnancies. Women are still careful about who they choose to engage with on a more long term basis.

This is not a gendered thing, it’s a personality thing. Some people like to be chased, and others like to do the chasing. And sometimes, both parties are mature enough to simply converse like adults and get it out on the table.

This chase/chaser aspect is just one version of courting. No worse or better than another, just more suitable or not to certain personalities.

You can see within the first 3 seconds of a male's approach whether something is going to happen or not, because the female judges the male's appearance and has already made up her mind whether she's gonna give him a chance or not.

I choose the men I want to chase me. If I’m out and I see something I like, I will not approach him but make sure he takes notice of me. I’ll go to the bar when he’s ordering, I’ll accidentally bump into him, I’ll find a way to make eye contact and shoot him a smile. If I’m just looking to hook up I’ll do this to multiple men. Most of them will approach during the night. Then I pick and choose.
