Alimony: Men wanted women to stay at home, but apparently they don't really appreciate the work that their stay at home wives do, so they don't believe that they deserve to be compensated for staying at home when they could be building their own careers. It seems men just want to be free to abandon their stay at home wives and pay them nothing, leaving them to be in poverty.

Maternity leave: I am all for paternity leave to exist too , provided that men actually stay to raise their kids. However, that never happens. Most men want to leave all the actual childcare to women, while they barely spend time with their own kids. (but that doesn't stop them from demanding "equal custody" later on)

Birth control: Men don't want poor women to have birth control, but later also whine when poor women become single mothers and need welfare money to take care of their kids. It seems that men don't even want to solve the problems they complain about.

Maternal (and paternal!) leave have benefits for the child, we don't just want it for ourselves. But I agree that alimony is unnecessary, should be temporary at most. Are people arguing that birth control pills should be free, is that what you're getting at? I don't think it should be free for all people but I'm fine with the current US system (it's free for people poor enough to get other healthcare for free). And yes, it is healthcare, women take birth control for reasons other than preventing pregnancy. I feel like most of the stuff you listed has a benefit beyond what you think it does, but alimony is a good example

What do you mean by birth control?

Maternity leave is just civilized and in most countries paid by the government which actually wants people to reproduce for economic benefit. Even less women would have kids without that incentive. If anything in many countries now there is a paternity leave too.

Also when you hear about suggestions for 3 year maternity leave and stuff it's usually from clueless politicians and the response is usually that this wont help demographics because most women do want to go back to work sooner. Better incentives for couples (cause men profit from it too) are cheap kindergartens.

Finally I'm generally against alimony strongly, and I think being a stay at home parent is not a good choice for anyone but in those cases I sort of get it (even though i still think both people are idiots). If you really agree that your wife wont work and will raise kids, after some time she will have a hard time getting any decent job. And I believe it works the same with genders reversed. Of course I think the amount should be something acceptable and it shouldn't be an indefinite thing and the person receiving alimony should show they are looking for work etc (like how you have to with unemployment benefits.)

I dont like alimony when someone gets paid just because they married a rich partner and divorced but women have to pay that too if they are the wealthy party. Prenups or avoid marriage or dont marry someone who makes less then you...there are solutions.

Alimony, child support, maternity leave, abortion and birth control are all for the purpose of not shoving women into poverty for having sex while being under the age of 50.

Women can also just ignore men, not marry and stay childless, but ironically it's men who don't want that. Incels complain they aren't getting sex, "hypergamy is out of control" and old boomer politicians (men) complain about birth rates and urge women to have kids because they worry for their pensions. So which way do you want it?

Your comparison isn't valid because women pretty much universally don't like men who act like they are entitled to sex. Nothing of value is lost if those men give up.

You can thank patriarchy for some of it:

Alimony and child support - women were supposed to put childcare first and a career second, if at all. Men were the bread winners and expected to provide for their children. Woman=nurturer Man=provider. Divorce didn’t excuse them from that responsibly.

Sadly, there are cases where the woman clearly is not a good parent and the father is a much better parent but thanks to an old patriarchy system that still lingers in family court, men are less like to get sole custody.

Maternity leave - notice how it’s not called paternity leave? Again, women were seen as the natural choice to nurture a baby, not men, they are the providers remember? So, men were never expected nor asked to take time off of work to care for a baby. It’s assumed that it will be the mother because of traditional views of gender roles, even if the father would be a better nurturer.

Birth Control - mostly feminism and women’s rights becoming more popular while traditional gender roles became less popular. But, seeing as how men don’t want to be on the hook for a child, birth control is a good thing.

Public service announcement: Most companies are not SV tech companies and most companies do not offer a year of paid maternity leave, at least in the US. The vast majority of companies do not offer any maternity leave, because they are too small to be legally required to do so. Of the companies that do, most of them offer two weeks of parental leave to either parent, and a woman who has given birth takes short-term disability leave, the same as my male co-workers who have needed surgery.

Of women who work for companies that do offer "maternity leave," most of them have to save up their PTO to take additional time off after their parental leave and short-term disability have expired. I don't understand what is keeping men from saving up their PTO if they want to take off several weeks in a row.

Well I actually get 6 paid weeks off for paternity leave with my company, however, if I was a woman giving birth I'd get 16 paid weeks.

Maternity leave is to recover after the birth, bond with your child, and care for the needs of the newborn. Both parents can get up to 12 weeks of parental leave (unpaid, usually) not just the mother. And it is nonsensical to be against birth control if you also do not want women and children to get welfare benefits and if you want women to have sex with you.

Exactly. Which is why we need to cut the welfare state and special treatment of girls to make a correction in the SMV. I bet a lot of incels would be able to get gf's if girls weren't given so much help. All those girls that live in government housing are supposed to get men to provide for them, not the government.

Alimony lol. My father n law receives 2k a month in alimony from his ex. She new she was going to have to pay but still filed. I guess it was worth it.
