I cannot help but notice that she has to bring up the fact that they are unattractive, as if that is supposed to be a necessary detail. Yes, I understand that she does not want the attention from guys she finds unattractive, but it cuts against her case of her complaint that these guys are giving her low effort messages when she is looking for something serious. Shouldn't the low effort be the only thing worth mentioning? Would this imply that she would be okay with these sorts of messages from attractive guys?

We know the song and dance that women do when discussing undesirable behavior of men, but what they do not want to admit is that the acceptability of specific behaviors is also related to how attracted a woman is to a guy. We cannot expect women to tell us the truth, but we know for a fact that they still have superficial preferences when it comes to dating. But if they were to admit this truth, they could not make claims that the only reason for a guy to fail in the dating market is his personality alone. It allows them to condemn an ugly man without having to admit it is because she thinks he is ugly.

It is not that she needs to give any particular guy the time of day, but I do not think that she is getting good feedback from her friends regarding her expectations. Yes, she will have to lower them. At 38 there are less men her age interested in her, as they are either looking for younger women or have given up on the idea of a committed relationship. If she wants to have children, she is running out of time for that to be a possibility (if it is possible), and men know this. The fact is that if she really wanted to be married, she should have prioritized this years ago.

Among the many annoying things in the that post I noticed she had two opportunities to outline what her preferences / requirements are. At the start when she mentions setting them and later on when she asks her friends (worst people to ask) if she is being unrealistic

But she doesn't feel the need to share what they are with the people she is asking for help. She also doesn't really go into detail about what she looks like or (as with all of them) what she has to offer

Perhaps the rise of more red-pilled guys sees more of them go on these sub reddits and she knows if she lists out what she is like and what she wants (and the inevitable gaping mismatch) that several people will tear it apart...

She did mention sending messages herself and having them left on read. And getting lots of messages from unattractive people. So what apps are she using? Because most require mutual matches to message....
