Thread here.

Man, the default subs never fail to entertain when it comes to stories of bluepill losers getting spanked. While I feel bad for a lot of them (hell, most of us were like that once), they also serve as potent reminders of what NOT to do on a date, and how women will so often try to subtle manipulate you into giving up your money and dignity for them. Today, r/tifu provided a great example of why it's bad to buy a girl a drink.

WHAT??? Some of you are probably not happy to hear that. But... but... buying a girl a drink is a time-immemorial tradition of dating, right? Isn't it just the thing you do as a guy, without questioning it? No. It signifies that you're trying to win her over even after she's agreed to meet you on the date. It's showing feel the need to further impress her with excess chivalry and financial peacocking by buying her shit. This immediately puts the girl in a position of power from the onset. It's a surefire way to begin the betabux process.

Enter our charmingly beta OP from the r/tifu post. He converses with a really hot girl on a dating app and agrees to meet her at a restaurant. She shows up, they chat a bit, and then... tells him to go wait outside while her coffee is made (which he paid for). Like an obedient dog, he does so. Minutes pass by. Where did she go? Turns out she took the coffee and left via the side door.

If you parse through this guy's posting style and history, it's pretty clear he's a Reddity m'lady type white-knight, USDA certified. Here are some quotes from his post:

I buy her coffee because I subscribe to traditional gender roles unless requested otherwise.

Traditional gender roles like being her servant and opening up your wallet to her every whim? Yeah, looks like that's really helping you get laid here.

I go outside and find the perfect goddamn table because I'm a romantic at heart.

"goddamn romantic". He's trying to be quirky about it while letting slip that he's a big ol' beta.

And I'm starting to think I'm not even mad...she didn't steal my credit card, or my organs. Just a few euros.

Okay buddy, keep telling yourself that. It's no big deal, all she did was basically fleece your balls and dignity out from under you. "I ain't even mad." How memetastic, lol! Straight from the frontpage of r/adviceanimals.

And if you look at OP's post history, it turns out he's an obsessive gamer who spends his time in WoW and anime. I'm guessing he doesn't give off an alpha male vibe at all, anywhere, anytime.

Don't be this guy. Don't buy girls anything, especially on a first date. It's not your job to impress her, especially if you're already a catch (muscular, fashionable, intelligent, wealthy, etc). It's her job to prove to you that she's worth your time.

Otherwise you'll end up like Beta Bob here, getting $5 taken from his wallet and then fake-joking about it on r/tifu in an attempt to tell himself that he still has some dignity left.
