People confuse assertive with disagreeable. Assertive just means you don't let people walk all over you. I think both men and women prefer assertive partners--can you imagine dating someone who bends over backwards to please everyone because they can't establish any boundaries?

Disagreeable on the other hand means a partner who is always argumentative, who never lets you take the lead or make decisions, and/or who nitpicks everything you do unless it's done their way. That is something I don't think people of either gender are into.

Of course there are no absolutes but if I go by jocks and alpha male types I’ve known my whole life they tend to date women similar to them — confident, assertive, etc. I fact I don’t know too many men at all who pursue meek women. I imagine that gets boring quick.

While I'm more assertive than my wife, we are both assertive people. Hell I had someone warn me we would be a bad match because shes so dominating.

Assertive doesn't mean disagreeable though.

I don't know if its ideal, its just how we roll, BUT if push comes to shove so to speak, I'm the one in charge, in fact it took me a while to see my wifes personality there because shes far less assertive with me than she is others.

My wife and I both have a low tolerance for manipulation and bullshit. We are both very assertive people. You would think we would kill each other, but so far not. Why? Because we both make an effort to not do stupid shit. I trust her intent and she trusts my intent.

If by "assertive" you mean "bitch" or "constant pain in the ass" then hard no - sometimes "STRONG!" and "INDEPENDENT!" just means "LOUD!" and "OPININATED!"

I am an assertive/extroverted man who is good at "life", and I tend to attract submissive women who are supportive and "team players" at least in the context of our relationships, because that's what they want and what I prefer. Often they are professionals with responsible jobs. One of my girls is a doctor who, when we are together, is my slave girl, but I've also seen her slip into "doctor" mode on those occasions when she has to take a call when we are together. It's like two different people.

I like things calm at home, and I don't need to be battling someone all the time.

Dominants go with submissives.

Most people are submissive, about 90/10 ratio.

Also, some women have this fantasy of being a power couple.

A lot of men don't want some pain in the ass. A lot of feminist women misunderstand this because they've chosen men that will treat them like a doormat so that's all they see in TRP. When in reality normal men don't want another women trying to be the guy in the relationship as those men have already taken that spot.
