Perhaps, but I've seen these women don't girl very well and can't make friends that are girls. I don't think that's at all good. And, given how many women are really clueless about men I think they are more likely to not judge men. Doesn't mean they understand male issues any better.

They literally need their femininity to make friends for them because other girls can't stand her shit or she can't stand theirs.

I've known plenty of funny women. If their boring to men, I'd question if those men just don't inspire good rapport.

In my experience women who don't get on with other women are crazy. They befriend men because they can pussy pass their way out of being a cunt which other women simply wouldn't put up with.

Where women work has nothing to do with this and there's no connection.

i have a buddy who admitted to me that i'm one of her very few female friends. she's happily committed relationship and just happens to work in a male-dominated industry.

she told me she's very happy that she now has more "girl friends". we get along fine

the boring thing is in platonic terms. its usually way more interesting/fun spending time with a girl youre romantically interested, but if youre just hanging out then yes lesbians and nerds are typically way less boring than regular girls

It really depends on the kind of guys you’re in a group with. I’m 1 of 3 women in my maths masters program and my group in college is 5 guys I’ve been hanging out with since 1st year undergrad. We hang out outside of class pretty often and while hanging out with them has made me more aware of male issues, my humour and interests have stayed the same (they have not managed to get me into videogames or anime), hedonistic/confident/assertive/fearless are not words I’d use to describe them so that hasn’t changed much for me either andddd if anything they’ve kept my n count lower than if I wasn’t friends with them.

Now if my group consisted of athletic dudes or festival/party guys or rich boys with yachts and coke problems it’d be a different story.

From primary through secondary school I was that girl, and in a mixed social setting I still find myself gravitating towards men even though I have more in common with women now than ever before.

I never thought too much of my inclination until I encountered a cackle of feminists mean-girling the concept and acting very cold towards me. This was the post college social scene so I didn't particularly care, I just never knew it was a problem for other people until that moment.

In any case I find myself amidst women more often now by virtue of motherhood, I don't really like it but there are not many men to speak to at playdates/pre-scheel events/the playground without it turning into a thing. However when husband and I get a chance to socialize like adults with adults I'll still gravitate to the men. I just feel more knowledgeable/comfortable with their conversation topics.

I only have 1 close girlfriend, and this is a repeated pattern over my entire life. Its sufficient for me, if there are anymore women in my life that aren't relatives (and even those are barely tolerated) I start to get batty. If that makes me Not Like Other Girls so be it.

I used to be that person, and have known many of those people.

They are socially ackward around women. They can be that in many different ways but in the end that's all there is to it.

I was that girl. I also considered myself “not like other girls” so I alienated the women around me, unless she was another one like me in a larger social network, and missed out on the more universal female perspective and sharing common experiences. You basically become an honorary dude, getting rough and dirty while being feminine-looking, that the dudes also want to fuck. The sexist humor is natural and you use it to deflect it without thinking about it as sexist at all, because girls are “dumb” but you’re ”cool” and “one of the guys.”

What I found in both scenarios is that you always take the male side because you start looking down on women and believing you’re immune to poor treatment because you understand men.

The ‘challenging’ character that you take on is really attractive to domineering types who want a challenge and don’t have your best interest in mind. Less challenging men are easy to crush without thinking, too.

It’s not too different from isolating yourself or being isolated in a relationship with a man and being in a male experience echo chamber. Only instead of a group, you’re a sidekick and ’yes (wo)man.’

When women get together and talk is when we start to say, ‘oh, some of this is bullshit, I’m not alone in ‘x’ experience, I didn’t bring it on myself, and actually it’s only my fault if I keep putting up with it.’ That’s why abusers keep their victims from socializing and why consciousness raising groups were such a big deal in the 70’s. Domesticity is isolating and pits women against women in a lot of ways. Adapting to what men want out of you is a great way to destroy your soul and individuality, if he’s not about your success and happiness, too.

I think more women should have male friends in general, it's healthy for everybody, mainly because friendships with women have an underlying layer of toxicity.

As long as the men in question actually see their female friends as real friends and not a "maybe romantic option", then it's all good.

I'm the only female on one of the teams I belong to at my workplace (kind of transitioning my role rn). I'd say that all of that is true of me except maybe the hedonism part-- it has been observed that I am very psychologically masculine, particularly outside the home. I've always had male friends (maybe the upside of not being particularly attractive -- I've actually managed to cultivate genuine friendships with men that weren't rife with sexual tension).

I'm sure it's impacted how men felt about committing to me in past, but I can't really say to what extent. The two archetypes who were into me were the really submissive men, and men who were like... pathologically low in neuroticism and not thinking about "the big picture". I'm in an LTR with the latter type now -- he seems very confident in his ability to dominate anything and anyone, so I don't think my assertiveness bothers him, lol. He doesn't look at ANYTHING and think "that is dangerous", much less a woman (this quality isn't entirely positive -- he's gotten himself into some shit with it).

I always found the former type really emotionally compelling and they were super-appealing, but just didn't work in the long term, because I'd lose respect for them over their passiveness.

I've had one friend who only had friends that are guys. She was a flirt and when I asked why she didn't have other friends who are girls she told me she "doesn't trust other women".

I am going into a male dominated field, because the career path is stable and the average age of someone in my field is 55 so a lot of people will be retiring soon. It is also a field I’m passionate about and is very fulfilling to me. I don’t care if the field is male dominated. I also have way more female friends currently than I do male friends, even though I’m around men a lot. I think most women in these fields just really like the field regardless of the amount of men.

I struggle to make friends with other women, always have. But I have no problem being "the only girl in the room." I get along really well with men and many of my interests trend masculine.

I've worked in male dominated environments my whole life. I would say, on average, your observations are close. Most of your observations are unrelated to this, and more related to "girl who wants to hang around guys, not girls."

As much as women all want to pretend they want STEM\male jobs. When it comes down to it, women don't want to work in environments like this unless they prefer male interaction to female interaction. So you see self-selection manifesting itself in these environments.

e.g. Engineering and especially sales. Engineering has too many betas so they're taking away most of the masculine stuff about these environments even though they're 95% men. Same for programmers etc.

So I would deduce with high likelihood you're in sales.

100% no. They may be more willing to talk and probably aren't a feminist, but they don't want to hear your problems. They just want to fit in.

This definitely seems to be true. These women typically prefer being around men as opposed to women.

No. Doesn't seem correlated. More prevalent than the average probably, but not a bunch of them. These types of women are very rare.

More hedonistic. Typically have higher N counts compared to other girls (there is one another type of a girl who also typically has high N counts - party girls). And sure, there are low N count girls like that.

This is really a function of "girl who hangs out with guys mostly." Usually a slut tell.

Also, a bonus question for men who say women are boring. Are these women also boring or do you believe they don't exist?

These women are usually more enjoyable to be around. I enjoy "a guy's girl" types, but they're usually passed around. These girls aren't usually competing in the FSM because they refuse to play "girl games." Almost universally other women trash talk these women.

I had a long standing crush on one of those way back in the day and basically everyone that knew her, screwed her. She ended up getting a bunch of DUIs and dropping out of the world right around the time she tried to get me to knock her up.

If you remove the slut behavior you get "manic pixie dream girl." So there's obvious male appeal.

She’s either the one looking for validation from all of the guys and getting passed around, she likes/is dating one of them, or she doesn’t identify with the more feminine girls who don’t like to go fishing or play sports because they’ll get too dirty or because those are “boy things.”

I have two acquaintances who were chicks in a mostly male environment one of them is an executive sales manager in chemical distribution and the other one was a CFO. Both of them are self absorbed, both of them have super passive husbands with no personality, and both of them struggle in female groups where they are not the center of attention. They usually aren't good friends because they rarely express interest in others.

They always have drama with other girls because they are causing the drama.

Typically they're huge attention whores and LOVE having a whole solar system of male orbiters. But they will always deny it.

Usually try to put up a front like they are super confident and independent and all that, but secretly insecure af and low self confidence.

Usually ok looking but not super hot. Like 6 out of 10. They put themselves into situations where there is a high male:female ratio because then they get treated like 9s by thirsty dudes.

They're usually really not that great at doing guy stuff or understanding guy issues or being one of the bros. They're really no different than other girls, guys just cut them slack and pedestalize them because they have a pussy.

I don't think there's any one-size-fits-all characterization of women with this one data point. IME, some of them are 'not-like-other-girls'-tomboys, and others are flirty-but-attached and just happen to find themselves in male oriented spaces.
