One of the most common anti-feminist tropes is "if u wanna be equal then I get to hit u just like I would hit a man HAR HAR HAR no more special treatment!"

In general I see a lot of confusion from men on this topic. When a man treats a woman "just like one of the bros" and she gets offended, they point to this as "proof that women don't want real equality" which leads them to claim that what women really want is special treatment.

Just because you treat EVERYONE like garbage, doesn't mean you're not a misogynist.

I see guys all the time being rough with one another, physically and emotionally. I've never understood why men seem to socialize by being crude, cruel, aggressive, immature, domineering, inappropriarely sexual, and by humiliating one another. They say "oh but I don't really mean it" but like... why? Why bother engaging in constant primitive powerplays if you "don't really mean it" that just doesn't make any sense to us.

Women simple do not socialize that way. When a man treats us in a way that he thinks is normal to treat other men, we think he is just being mean to us. Men will try to gaslight us into thinking that we are somehow being unreasonable when we are justifiably unhappy with being treated badly.

Dear men: we don't want you to treat us the same way you treat other men. We've seen the way you treat other men, and you usually treat each other like shit. Women want to be treated with basic human decency and respect. That is not the same as expecting preferential treatment, because ultimately your goal should be to treat EVERYONE with basic human decency and respect.
