I'll let other mods weigh in. In my opinion, this profile has value. She seems to be smarter than the majority of women we discuss here. But, walk with me for a minute...

She has a list of not unreasonable wants/needs. She wants a man who is or is in the process of making something of himself. This is a perfect cheat sheet for men who are struggling to find a starting point.

However, what's unspoken is what's important. At 23 she wants to get married because of family pressure. Assuming she became sexually active at 18 and was savvy enough to fly under the radar it's entirely possible she rode the CC hard and fast. She had her bad boys and now she's looking for a good man before she ages out in a couple of years.

Women don't date down. Their ability to provide for themselves is the minimum requirement that they need in a man. She wants a man that offers everything she already does, but men don't want to marry other men and clearly she doesn't understand that.

She is in hypergamy overdrive. If she made 60K+ she would require a man to make as much, not understanding that once the babies pop out, she will be making 0, but he will still be required to continue her lifestyle. This is exactly why the courts also provide alimony based on previous income, because female hypergamy and no other valid reason.

Her value that she offers such a man, a good christian provider is dependent on her age and sexual partner count.. At 23 she is already at the tail end of that youthful standard that men have, but she is talking about her education and career instead of that. She wants a man who has a good job and good education, so that is the goals she sets for herself. Hypergamy then requires her to attain a man with at least those credentials.

This is why she is considered 'unreasonable' here. Her value is drastically dwindling, but she demands the best out of the value a man can provide. Not to mention the added bonus of paying her family a dowry, thereby signalling that she is the prize, when any man that gets with her is going to have far more value than her with the same credentials.

I'm actually going to offer a different take than my usual. I am probably most qualified to speak on this [due to my ethnic background].

The female who posted this is either from West Africa or the Caribbean [like me]. As a child of black immigrants, in OUR community this is what African/Caribbean parents worth their salt teach female children to look for in a partner. They drill it in our heads to go to school, obtain a degree, bring honor to the family, work hard go to church/mosque etc. Those are not necessarily bad things. It is closer to the family ideals many on our sub like. It is a form of positive hypergamy if we are to be honest.

Most of us 1st/2nd gen Americans come from poor/working class and lower middle class backgrounds. We cannot simply just walk into this country. Our parents struggle like hell, fight tooth and nail to emigrate to the United States/Europe for a better life. It is a FIGHT to get to Western countries. This profile sounds like the typical demands of a Fatima/Tianna [typical African or Caribbean gal]. I'm going to say that she is West African. Mention of a 'dowry' is common. West African families believe if their daughter is to be married, the man must be financially stable etc. In exchange, you get a VERY traditional wife [for the most part]. That is she will; cook, clean, stay married etc. Some even turn a blind eye to a husband who has a concubine, it is a cultural thing.

The major downside I truly see is that she doesn't mention what SHE brings to the table. If she was born in the USA, she might be infected with benign feminism so she might not be all the way traditional. Black females the world over have the most unrealistic demands and expectations of potential suitors. They have demands but don't bring anything of note/worth to the table other than a v@gina [muh body].

Shaniqua and her degenerate ilk could take a page from this African/Caribbean gal. Have actual standards and bring something to the table. If you live in the West/America, it is a blessing. You have access to more resources than any period in human history. If you are an abject failure, it is your fault. Not something that happened to your ancestors 10 generations ago [ReeeeEEEEeeeEEE].

Maybe I am having an off day. This profile is a little unorthodox and does have a long list of expectations/wants, but I don't find it to be unreasonable in today's dating climate. It strikes me as a young woman whom has reasonable expectations and attempting to find a man for marriage that is more traditional than we typically see.

Granted she doesn't list anything that she offers to a union, so her expectations may be reasonable or may not be. With the unknown being unknown, this profile doesn't fit the theme of the sub.

Main issue I have here is she mentions none of what she brings to the table. Not a single word about what she offers in exchange for all she demands.

You all should take note of this and mentally ask yourself before you verbally ask her:

*What does she offer me? What will I get out of a relationship with her?

and, very importantly

Is what she offers being freely given, or is it being extracted from her in a transactional sense? Is she offering herself to me of her own volition, or does what's on offer come with conditions, strings, provisos, and fine print?

Most of the time, she offers very little, and what's on offer has all sorts of strings. You must offer what she demands FIRST and put every bit of your goods on the table, and then and only then will she consider even showing you what she is willing to offer. Or, if you cannot continue, she immediately withdraws everything and discards you. Or, she evaluates what you offer and finds it just a teensy tiny bit wanting, and then goes Sex Nazi on you (" NO SEX FOR YOU!!") before tossing you in the trash.

Some of her “requirements” like job, car, no drugs/alcohol abuse/smoking, be religious, make 40k, do make some sense. I’m no fan of drugs or smoking either and I support those who work hard to make good money for themselves. Can’t go wrong with good jobs + earnings to save and live as you like.

Her tone is what makes this an issue of entitlement. She does not make it clear that she wants a husband, only that her family pressures her to have a husband. Not a single word here suggests that she desires or is anxious to meet any of the men she’s advertising her availability to. As a woman, I don't think that her "wants" are crazy. We all started out with a really long list of what we wanted in a partner. She will grow up eventually and realize that expecting all of those things from one person is irrational and isn't going to happen. She will go through a few years of trying to find this person, won't find him, will get down on dating for a while, and then figure things out.

She might find somebody who is the polar opposite, fall in love, get her heart broken, and then begin the process of looking for somebody who can be a true partner while also being human and, consequently, imperfect.

I'm really glad she has education requirements, though. I do, too, and when I was single I was constantly being told what a snob I was because I was looking for a man who had at least a Bachelors degree. In fact, I preferred a Masters degree because I have two of them myself and I'm now working on my PhD. My boyfriend has a Masters degree, but it was very frustrating to me while I was OLD because I was struggling to find people who matched my education requirements. She probably will, too, but I hope she doesn't.
