So there I was on mother's day brunch. Mom, dad, sister, brother and brother's wife. My brother has been married for a few years and the subject of me be getting married comes up. I sum up what I say by saying "I think marriage is a sham, I don't see myself being in a situation where things could go so incredibly bad - I.e, divorce rape, alimony, false rape accusation, etc) I should preface this by saying we were talking about how diamonds are a terrible industry and how marriage is fueling the exploitation of child labor.

My sister in law snides at my comment and says "It's no wonder you've been single for so long". I tell her it's a choice and getting someone to nag me for shit I don't want to do is easy. Incidentally, I point at my brother's hair, which has a few grey streaks and I say "Look what you did to my poor brother, his head will be totally white in the next few years". She rolls her eyes and get upset and walks away from the table. All eyes are on me. My mom proceeds to say I need to get married for a woman to "whip me into shape", I tell her that's the exact reason I'm happy to be single. GYOW. I plan on teaching abroad and avoid getting caught in this bullshit at all costs.

Tl:dr- Pissed my whole family off by saying I think marriage is a terrible idea and statistically a terrible choice to make.
