Damn right, sir! One of the reasosn I always try to be extra-cordial to blue collar workers, especially construction workers.

I'm blue collar right now not construction, but it does feel awesome that people understand how important my job is, and just to say if anyone in my field fucks up depending on how bad it can shut down and entire city for awhile let's just say that depending on how large the city is that is.

Is that the attitude of most people you meet? I am truly, genuinely happy to hear that, if it is indeed the case. May I ask in which country you live? I will understand if you'd rather keep it confidentail.

It takes a certain level of fearlessness(not bravery) to do a job like that properly.
Bravery might allow you to work despite your fear but the fear you are suppressing will still imped you to some extent, but fearlessness will allow you to do jobs like this mentally unimpeded.

No mud, no cold, no rain gear. Just a sore ass sometimes. We live in a great world thanks to men that do the real work.
[–]weDCbc26 points27 points28 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
There is no WAGE gap...in fact, some studies suggest women get paid MORE than men in the same job per unit of output (men may get paid the same or more put are more productive than their female equivalents).
What there is, is an EARNINGS gap ($0.79 to the dollar or whatever number the latest ideologically motivated study demonstrates). This is due almost entirely to the fact that men choose more dangerous, strenuous, demanding jobs (see pic), work more hours, and pursue jobs that offer greater renumeration.
The language around this issue needs to be accurate. Feminists have been erroneously (and potentially intentionally) using "wage" instead of "earnings" and it's deceptive. Perhaps they're simply economically illiterate, idk. But we need to be smart enough to not fall into their linguistic traps!
[–]Azul190 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link
There's definitely a "wage-gap"...but its due to the fact that women are CHOOSING different jobs...NOT, because men and women are receiving different pay for the same job, that shite is illegal.
Feminazis are trying to put out the idea that women are receiving different pay for the same job, which leads to the confusion of the population.
They're never going to admit the truth...because the truth hurts their egos/feelings.
Feminazis needs to be exterminated from the face of earth...they're HARMING our society...we have to stop them or else we loose.
[–]Kdog9092 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Absolutely true.
The one and only example that I have found where women get paid slightly less to do "the same job" as men are in occupations that give preference to employees that are willing to be "on call" (filling in shifts when someone calls in sick, working after-hours, etc.). Men are much more willing to be on-call than women, regardless of anything else (married vs. single, children or no children, etc.)
Companies will pay more for employees that are willing to be on-call than those who are not.
That's the only example of an actual "wage-gap", AFAIK
[–]Azul192 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
There is definitely a wage-gap in ballet...as men receive FAR less than women, when it comes to that occupation...also, there's a wage-gap in arts and modelling...where men are discriminated against, yet women aren't.
Ask yourself that little thing...if corporations were paying men and women differently, why wouldn't they hire women?...it would constitute cheaper LABOUR!
Once again, when feminist logic is presented with facts, logic and objectivity, it rabidly fails to impress.
[–]Kdog9091 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Never thought of those types of occupations! Very good point.
I also use that argument a lot... if women were paid less to do the same job, then it wouldn't make sense to hire men.
One more thing: This is just what I've witnessed, (I don't have stats to prove it), but women seem to be much more inclined to "job-hopping" than men.
I have been a loyal employee to the same company for 11 years. Lucky enough to receive decent raises every year. On the other hand, my STBX-wife has changed jobs five times in the same 11 years.
How dare these companies pay more per hour for loyal male employees than they pay their flighty, "new job every two years" female counterparts? (Just what I've seen in my 11 years with same employer, and from my STBX-wife's job history)
[–]Azul192 points3 points4 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Indeed you are my friend!
Women tend to change jobs more often that men, because of societal impacts/reponsibilites/child-rearing etc.
i've noticed that as well.
Of course, corporations are going to give raises to a loyal eployee, rather than a new employee, whom proably would leave the position if he/she was presented with a better opportunity.
Another thing i've noticed, is that women RARELY ask for raises when it comes to their salaries, as culture encourages women to be passive towards others.
The wage-gap is definitely due to women's choices and no one else's.
So if feminists, want to reverse the pay-gap, they should try to dismantle the sexism in our society by encouraging women to be more assertive and offer staility in the workforce.
But of course they'd never do such a thing...the only thing that do is bitch and moan about stupid shite...when women are being STONED to death in the middle-east, or young girls are sexually molested by rape-gangs in the UK...they don't seem to bat an eye-lid.
Feminists never cared about women and definitely, they'd never will.
[–]weDCbc1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I wouldn't even consider that a wage gap since one party (those that are willing to be on call) is being more productive and beneficial to their employer. It is simply some (men) being willing to take on extra burdens at work, and they should be compensated fairly for it, and earn greater earnings than those that are not on-call as much (females).
Basically, a "wage-gap" only refers to two people performing the exact same job with the exact same productivity, albeit, at different wages. That scenario would be fucked up, and is illegal.
Women choosing different jobs than men constitutes an EARNINGS gap...a WAGE gap neccessarily assumes both the male and female are identical in all respects and performing identically in the same job. In that scenario, obviously it would be unfair to reward one party more than the other, simply due to their gender.
You are right, the main motivator of the EARNINGS gap is that men choose to pursue careers in more lucrative fields.

TANGENT here: that said, I know that building well, and I absolutely hate the fucking thing. Whoever the douchenozzle with the exceptionally small penis and a billion dollars who built it put that giant "my dick is small" pole on the top of it JUST so it would be taller than the iconic US bank building in downtown los angeles. It totally fucks up the skyline, and if I could, I'd circumcise that building and the aforementioned twatscab's ego with a pound of c4 at the bolts/welds/whatever is holding that fucking oversized fishing pole on top.
Back to the subject: even on a calm day. It's going to be windy as hell up there. This really took some gumption to do.
[–]Kdog9090 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Also Tangent: The Los Angeles skyline has always sucked. Compare it to Chicago, Philadelphia, or even MUCH smaller cities like Seattle or Minneapolis. L.A. will always have a shitty skyline because it just sits there in the desert. It is not located next to a Great Lake or an ocean or the largest river in the U.S. The L.A skyline has no real reason to exist. Same thing with Phoenix, Houston, Denver. Crap skylines.

More than likely your way in is a union apprenticeship. Look into becoming a millwright. If anything theyll cover your education and youll be working. Making money, gaining skills and doing an actual job that society depends on. Sounds like the life! Fuck. I need to reassess what Im doing with my menial warehouse job.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The trades are frowned upon to modern academia but if you dont mind putting in alot of time and work you could potentially be making 6 figures due to demand of specialized skills and overtime. Many travel opportunities as well. Im just a warehouse maintenance guy. Pretty boring but the pay is decent and plenty of overtime available if I want it. In my case I got an industrial maintenance certificate from my local city college. I worked in IT before but got tired of the cuckery, white knights, entitled women, feminism and constantly rising workload pressure from up above.
In other words, you just might find the trades to be your calling my man.

If you're built for it look into becoming a lineman for a power company. A lot of the current workforce is aging and jobs will be in high demand. Shit i climbed the ladder on the stack where i used to work. I think that was 180ft. It was funny because the guys who put the ladder up to clean the stack told me to keep my eyes in front and keep on climbing. I climbed for what seemed like a while and looked down and i was only a 3rd of the way up. Then i climbed for another few minutes and i was getting kind of tired and i went to stop and all of a sudden i hear. "Oh. You alright mate" and the guys on the scaffold were just above me. It really startled me. Then i looked down... I was only up there a few minutes and went back down. I thought i was pretty good with heights but that was a little to much... I did climbing and abseiling in army cadets but this is to much for me.

This is such a weak comment. I guarantee you I have more fun being single than you do in a relationship, every single day. Also guarantee I get laid more.
Poorly-thought out comment, like your life decisions.
