TL;DR: Did my first true day game approach after a long time of fretting about potential rejection and obsessing over theory. Got rejected, and feel liberated, as well as inspired to go make more approaches and get better.

First off, I don't mean this in any way as an attempt to seek validation from the experienced and substantially successful guys here. I'm not going to pretend this is as some sort of huge accomplishment.

What I want to do is give encouragement and advice to the noobs, from a fellow noob.

I've read and watched a ton of theory on Game, from TRP as well as PUA sources. Found the latter of those first, (especially watched tons of RSD videos, bought a couple ebooks too,) but have gotten a lot more value and inspiration out of TRP, as it's comprehensive for life rather than focused on fucking girls.

I have probably studied theory way too much relative to how much I've put into practice, at least in terms of actually talking to women. I am proud of my progress in fitness, career, and hobbies; still certainly have a lot of room to grow and build my self-discipline.

I'm sure tons of guys new to TRP can relate: using Monk Mode as an excuse to avoid talking to the hotties they pass by every day, salivating over awesome field reports and fantasizing about the day they'll have the balls to do something like that, relentlessly reading and re-reading theory and hoping that it'll magically make them smooth motherfuckers the first time they open their mouths to that nice-assed yoga-pants girl in front of 'em in line at Starbucks.

I got sick of my own babyish, cowardly shit in regards to this, so, I decided to set a goal of 1 approach for myself per day: I have to move my feet towards and say words at a hot girl, in an attempt to get a date or at least a number. This is in addition to talking to random other people; I can only count an approach for the day if it's a hot girl, (MY definition of hot, btw,) and it can only count if I go for a date/number close. Complimenting her or mumbling something about the weather than then bolting doesn't count. I have to get either rejected or..."accepted", I guess the term would be, though I dislike the implication there. I'm not applying to a college; I'm seeing if this chick is worth my time. Anyway, you get it.

This was literally the first day of me implementing this new routine for myself. I count this as day game despite it being at 7:30 PM, because it was in a Starbucks which looked no different from a day-time mood. Certainly a distinctly different atmosphere from a pub or club.

I came in to drink an Earl Grey, plan my week, and approach the first girl to catch my eye.

Cue the pretty blonde in yoga pants, reading a textbook by herself. First, I went over, said "Hi," kept good eye contact, (my body language overall is the one part performance-wise that I'm proud of, nothing wrong with it I think,) said some words about what she was reading, and told her straight up I thought she was cute.

She said "Thanks" with a smile, (and didn't seem too awkward about it, actually) and then I sat down a couple tables away to do my thing.

When I was done with that, she was still there, so on my way out I asked her if she wanted to get coffee sometime. She said she had a boyfriend, but thanked me for approaching, because she appreciated someone meeting people so organically (her word not mine). She seemed genuinely a bit flattered, and again, not awkward or a bitch about it! Maybe she was just good at hiding it and being polite, but she sounded like she meant it. I'm fine either way.

And here's the great part...nothing bad happened. She didn't make a scene, a piano didn't fall on my head, I didn't die, her boyfriend didn't appear and punch me in the throat. I got rejected...yeah, so? Nothing happens then.

I work in sales, I have for about a year now. I look back on my short career, and see how far I've come in my courage and my smoothness in terms of calling people up, setting appointments with 'em, meeting new people, writing business, asking for referrals etc. I was so nervous about it before; I didn't know what I was doing, and rejections really upset me. Now, I laugh them off, especially when the person's a huge jerk, because I know that I can land another $1,000, $2,000, $3,000, or (my biggest so far) $5,000 paycheck from the business I'll close with SOMEONE this week. All I gotta do is bring this mentality from sales to Game, and obviously apply the relevant differences to it.

Nothing bad really happens when you approach and get rejected, but something good CAN happen when you approach. It's a 0 or a +1, (ALMOST) never a -1. (I don't want to discount all possibilities of a girl being a total bitch about it such that it causes real trouble for you, especially in a club situation, but it's unlikely.)

This tiny experience really drove home for me: you can only lose this game by quitting. Even at your peak SMV you won't close with everyone you approach, but getting rejected doesn't mean you lose. It just means you didn't "win" in that particular day or week, however you wanna look at it. Yes, yes, of course build your SMV to help your odds, but approach, too! Each rejection gets you closer to getting laid. This is the same as in my career, except it's making money rather than getting laid. Each rejection makes me a bit more thick-skinned and smooth, and gets me closer to my $$$.

I walked back to my apartment kinda giddy, to be honest: I approached a hot girl with honest intent, good eye contact and body language, got rejected, and the world didn't end. It sure as Hell feels way better than the regret of not approaching someone who caught my eye! That's something I intend to internalize: regret feels worse than rejection. In the words of Teddy Roosevelt, "It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed."

Again, please, I'm not expecting a parade or some shit for taking this baby step. That's not the point. The point is that my fellow rookies need to (ALONG WITH LIFTING, READING, BUILDING A CAREER AND SOCIAL CIRCLE ETC) just get out there and talk to girls. Get rejected! Get rejected over and over again and learn each time, fail a little less each time.

If you don't look like complete shit, and you don't talk like a complete autist, there are girls out there who will dig you and want to jump your bones, or at least consider it enough to get drinks with you. And as you develop above-average style, muscle, etc, the ratio will improve.

Go in with the expectation of failing, even, and the understanding that failing isn't really failing, it's just not winning...yet!

Lessons Learned:

Rejection is less painful than regret, and can in fact be fun initially as you realize how little it actually affects you, especially if you have interesting things to do besides talk to girls.

There's no real reason to not approach while focusing on self-improvement. Maybe don't spend hours with the exclusive purpose of macking on ladies, but if you're going to read, go do it at a coffee shop, or exercise with a walk in the park and talk to whoever catches your eye that you come across. Get socially better and build your confidence and courage even more as you also lift and develop your career and creative hobbies.

Gaming girls with day game cold approach really is like other skills. Do it more, learn from your mistakes, and you can get better. Also put your best foot forward from the get go, don't go in full-retard, but don't fret about being perfect!
