Here is my theory.

I am a (recovering) pickmeisha. I also have an anxious-insecure attachment style. As I’ve learned about both, I’ve began to think attachment trauma (of all kinds) generates pickmeishaism.

  • (I have included links to two videos below if you want to understand Attachment Style Theory better)
  • (I believe these videos will be helpful to you if you are a recovering pickme like myself)

You might notice anxious-insecure attachment essentially explain pickmeishaism. At least, it explains my pickmeisha tendencies.

I’ve been shocked into truly seeing my pickmeisha self, I’ve been given an effective and compelling alternative, and have been encouraged to better myself, and that has honestly saved me, thanks to this sub.

Still, I find myself slipping into my pickme/anxious attachment tendencies all the time, and I’m sure others do too. Attachment style is developed in infancy, so of course it wouldn’t be that easy.

I would like to acknowledge this psychological aspect of the pickmeisha, and acknowledge that to recover as a pickme, you must heal your attachment trauma. It’s not easy, but it’s necessary.

What do you all think?

Thank you very very much to those who took the time to read this, especially to those who watched the videos as well.
