I've used eHarmony but it was a long time ago so I can't really comment anymore. The quality seemed like it was a little better (more serious about committed relationships and not just hooking up) than the free dating sites. Found a lot of trashy people on the free ones (go figure).

I think all dating websites are starting to incorporate some kind of "pay to play" in their scheme so dating itself is becoming more exploitative as a whole.

It's the same thing but less people. Back in the olden days it uses to be ok like early 2000s (or so I hear) cuz the ratio was better but now I doubt it's any better really.

I paid for match.com a long time ago, like maybe around the year 2000. I wasn't very happy with the quality of the few women who replied back to me. The majority of them ended up ghosting on me, maybe because they could sense that I wasn't super into them, or maybe just because they found better guys than me eventually. At any rate, it wasn't worth the money. I always had better luck using free chatrooms. The only advantage that match had was that it was easier to meet women who were nearby.

I actually paid for POF for about a month. Did help, but wouldn't ever use it or any dating app again- unless I'm specifically fishing for married women maybe. Women that have a reason to have a sneaky, hidden profile.

Edit: The quality of women seem to be much better on traditional social media. Did meet an attractive maried woman on POF though, that lasted a few months.

No attractive woman would pay for that. So it is no surprise that most women (from my male perspective) are at best average looking if not just fat or old. Young beautiful women don't need to pay. That's the thing men who use such sites do not understand. They aren't gonna find there anyone worthwile. Only desperation.

I used match.com in 2015-2016. It was a lot of the same guys as on OKCupid, which I also used, but with the very low income guys screened out. I did pay for the premium OKCupid (and met my husband on OKC) because it allowed stealth reading of profiles. My method was to only reveal my visit on profiles that I would likely write back on.

In my view, apps like those died in 2015. I remember when some small, no-name apps similar to Tinder were popular in my area. I saw local people on those apps but nothing worth matching with. Tried Tinder as a casual thing for a while and it didn't give me much luck. Paid like $12 for the premium version for a month, and still nothing...except just matching with friends for the jokes. Another local app just came around a while ago. Seemed promising with the amount of matches I got initially, but now that app is dead too.

Not personally, but 1 woman I know signed up for a muslim matchmaking service. It's not quite online dating, but they have profiles you swipe and then the matchmaker sets up a few meetings. You only get a set amount of dates that are chaperoned and then you have to give an answer. After that the "courting" is started, and they give you really nice personal giftbaskets if a wedding takes place.

She's religious, traditional but grew up in the west so she wants a virgin like herself with no history of whoring around. It worked for her.

You do find people who are more serious about finding a partner on a paid site. So you tend to get more responses. Plus, you know that they have SOME disposable income (or they're bad with money, nvm what I just said lol).

In my experience, compared to OKCupid, the quality was only slightly better on match.

Fair warning: those on paid sites have the mindset that they "want their money's worth". So you kind of have to bring your A game as well.

All that being said, I'd avoid any paid dating sites nowadays. Way too many bots and scammy tactics.

No but I have friends who have.

They said they were matched with men who were boring and older. They would not match them with any man who was even a little younger. So, they gave up.
